I never bought into it. My girlfriend started to buy some echinacea once and I told her she would be better off with a multi-vit to help her immune system than just one herb that may or may not work.

Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

I was very interested in the article when I saw it this morning. I've used echinacea in the past to combat colds with much success. Usually, i'm feeling better within a few days. Seems like another gov't study to discredit the use of natural remedies. This said everything I needed to know as far as the intent:

"The study was funded by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, part of the federal National Institutes of Health. Turner, the lead researcher, has consulted for various antibiotic makers."

Echinacea works (hole herb is better than the standarized supps). And it is used better as a prevention in winter or weather changing conditions. Lemon can be used to enhance its effect.

Sadly the drug industry do not want us to know that there are low cost or free cures. And they have the $$$ to do anything they want... like moving the gov to approve a supplement regulation law...

What a surprise....a Federally funded study says Echinacea is no help for colds...........I read some that said steroids don't make you big and strong.
I highly recommend all IronMagLabs supplements!

One report I read say's it works but in high dosages that after prolonged use may cause liver damage. People need to be aware that even herbs can be dangerous if abused.

Grape Fruit is the best enhancer for almost any drug or herb.

I'm not doubting you GAmuscle, but how do you now if it actually works?

It could be the result of time, fluids, vitmins, diet, amount of sleep, when combating the cold.

Saying this if peolple are happy taking it, keep taking it.

I do believe the the Medical Profession is going out and trying to debunk natruopathic medicine, which mostly (if not entirely) consists of taking natural things to *prevent* illness in conditions.

I look at Vitamins, minerals, and herbs, and naturopathics as a preventative measure that may help me live a better lifestyle when I am older, save me future possible medical and pharmaceutical costs, and allow me to live longer.

My grandmother went to a natruopathic doctor a few years ago and she's learned a lot.

91 and mentally strong, physical great.

(not saying this is the reason, but I take the supps. just in case.)
Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first.

Because generally, it is the only thing I take, along w/ Sage tea..but I only drink sage tea if I have a sore throat. That's just me though. Echinaecea just seems to work for me. In the end, we agree that big pharmaceuticals are looking for ways to make us pay more money for their drugs.
