    Exclamation Protein dilemma

Ok, im sure tonnes of people have asked this, but im gonna ask it anyway. im not a big time body builder ( i hit the gym 3 days a week for weights, all week for cardio) and i train pretty hard. i just ran out of some cheap 2 lb soy protein i bought from walmart awhile back. i need to goto the local GNC or Nutrition House at the mall and get a new 5lb thing of protein, but im not sure wich kind. the salesman guy at NH told me to get IsoFlex(whey isolate) and he told me its really good to get. unfortunately, its 90 bucks.i dont mind the price as much, but i was thinking maybe i could be getting something much better for that price. he also told me to get glutomine to add in with my shake. again, 40 bucks. i mean, he seemed to like just agree with everything i was saying, and im not sure if he knows his stuff. if someone could please help me find out A)how many times should i be having shakes or supplements and more importantly wich protein is best and tastiest to buy (preferably under 80 $ CAN) and if glutomine and maldextrose or whatever and any other costly supplements are actually worth it to put in my shake. again, im not a serious bodybuilder, im just trying to lose some body fat (about 25 pounds overweight) put on muscle for senior football this year (and the chick factor Id really appreciate any feedback, and i need to get some protein fast thanks alot for any help.

Ok. Number 1: NEVER buy soy protein ever again. Ever. It is the worst kind of protein you can get.

Number 2) Get some WPI (whey protein isolate). It's fast absorbing and ideal in a PWO shake. If your going to be also having night-time shakes, I would tend to go with casein as it absorbs a lot slower and has less calories.

Numebr 3) Glutamine and dextrose, not to mention creatine, are great in a PWO shake. If funds are short, cut the glutamine, use sugar instead of dextrose and try hard to fit creatine in somewhere.

And lastly, don't train for the chicks, it's surprising how fast you'll lose focus.

The chick factor is a great goal booster!

Im sure that one of the stores carry ON 100% Whey, it has a mix of whey proteins and enzymes to help absorb it, and it has 4.5g of L-Glutamine per serving. I think Isolate should be used for pre/post workout only since it absorbs too fast. ON 100% whey has other types of whey protein that can las up to 3 hours.... and you can lower the absorbtion by adding milk and oats.

PWO Shake: I've said this so many times its not funny, but I take it noone cares. But here we go again. PWO shakes should contain simple carbs, not complex ones. Simple carbs are absorbed into the bloodstream in as little as 3 minutes. This increased concentration allows for easy glycogen replenishment. Also, the high level of glucose triggers an inuslin release, which allows nutrients to be easily transported back into muscle cells. The increased level of insulin allows the body to supercompensate with nutrients and this creates better hypertrophy.

    40-50g protein, 40-100g dextrose, 5g creatine
