I just switched up my whey protein to a non-bulking formulation (just switched Designer Whey). Anyways, each scoop has 18 grams of whey protein and only 2 grams of carbs/sugars, which kind of alarmed me since thats significantly less then my previous whey protein. I was under the impression that you do want to take a decent amount of simple sugars with your protein so that way the release of insulin helps the use of the protein.
Anyways, I figured I'd ask you all since most of you are way more experienced/knowledgeable with this.
Any advice, should i keep the new whey protein and add maybe some sugar to it?
BTW, I will be also starting to take Creatine that has 9 grams of sugar with this whey protein.
My whey has 1g sugars per 24g protein (1 serving). I would say it depends on what you are using the protein for. Post-workout shake, it has been said that you should have whey with simple carbs, but you can get that from fruits like strawberries. In fact, I would recommend this over just adding table sugar, if for some reason that was what you had in mind. I believe with creatine monohydrate in powder form, sugar is supposed to aide in absorption. That is why you will read people suggesting you take your creatine mono with grape juice or apple juice (high sugars).
