    Creatine, Whats the point?

When I was in high school, my friends would lift for football all the time. All of them would take creatine. When I asked my dad about it, he said its basically crap that just makes your muscles look bigger by filling them with excess water. At the time, my father had been lifting for years and was a big guy. To this day I really don't know anything about Creatine. I have read in a few threads here that Creatine is one of the more important suppliments. Could anyone please explain to me what it does, and the pros and cons of using it? I'de appreciate it.

creatine increases water retention in your muscles, skin, etc. This added water can increase your strength in a small manner.

personally it helped me with a little strength, endurance, and recovery...do not expect it to transform anything though. I used it when I first started lifting but dropped it a long time ago. All in all I do not think it is worth the cost.

negative effects are still unproven like kidney damage. The worst part of it IMO is all the fucking sugar they load into it like celltech.
