Most of the feedback around Weightgainers arn't very good.

They have too much sugar and crappy calories in them I've been told...

I tried it once...seemed ok, but just don't go over board.

I agree. You can get out of hand and the stuff can go straight to your gut. I've had good luck w/ NLarge2 & Muscle Milk. Both solid products for an aid in gaining weight. Real food is the key of course.........

    Good luck!

what about scratching the weight gainer all together and just progressively upping your calories every 2-4 weeks making adjustments as necessary to bulk.

It depends on the type of frame you're on. For ecto's weightgainers are life savers. Also, quite a bit cheaper. It is about impossible to get the same calories from food for the same cost as a shake.

even with the cleanest foods, you can still get fat if you have too many.....you could eat all crappy ass foods but as long as you stay under your maintenance calories then you will lose weight.

wouldn't agree with that, i'm an ecto, every weight gainer i've tried has just seemed to make me fat, yes they can actually do the impossible! believe it or not, i really think they are absolute crap! you are far better buying a quality protein powder such as ON and mixing a couple of scoops with some raw oats, now thats a real mans weight gainer, and i could probably down 8 of them a day and i still would put fat on as you are using oats for your carbs, as opposed to simple sugars

Try Muscle Milk as a gainer before bed.

Then you're not an ecto. Adding 5-600 calories to an ecto's diet will do literally nothing. This assumes you are at least somewhat active.
