I wasn't asking for one, I was just letting them know that they're being undersold and I'd prefer to buy from them. I didn't request nor expect any kind of discount. But them choosing to send me 10 bucks off something that is 19 dollars more expensive is kind of perplexing.
I think it is a nice gesture of them. They prob dont wholesale that product at the same price, so they figured, if you were going to order with them, then they might be able to save you a bit more money with the $10 bucks off. I have sites I always buy from, even if they are a few bucks more expensive, and I let them know I could have gotten it cheaper elsewhere, sometimes they throw me a few bucks back or free shipping. That is why I give them my business.
Who knows, the other place could be a bunch of ass holes and wouldnt help you out like the more expensive place..

Twin and I are both of the same mind. The day we've reached our personal goals of success we will dump and run from this industry faster than a whore in church. haha.
Seriously though, I'm based in a small town, which makes it that much harder to find quality people. The ability to think on one's own is a lost art.

Can't much of the managerial work be done from a distance over the web? Your company has the potential to be the single largest supplement distributor on the web. You just need a team of managers. You know your business better than I, but given what I know of the history of your company, you have tried to carry all the weight. Ideally one would find the right people and delegate responsibility to according to skill and ability. Having said that, I hope your employees don't read your posts here and decideto go back to work at McDonalds.
Are they Wal-Mart? Do they have a price match guarantee?
Actually MANY stores do this, not just Wal-Mart. I used to work at Sears (in high school) and we would match ANY price if that is what it took to make the sale. The main reason for this is customer satisfaction AND the chances of that customer coming back again are increased by ten fold. Also, word of mouth is HUGE, if you please a customer they will go and tell a few people and those people might tell a few people, etc. If you piss a customer off they will tell twice or three times as many people about their bad experience, and those people will tell people, etc., i.e. just like this thread here.
Note: I am not bashing Mike or BN, just making a point on this subject. We had this crap pounded into our heads at Sears by the management every month.

I worked there as well. I just used Wal-Mart as an example. Sears now will match the price plus another 10%, or if they don't have the model you want, they will sell you the next one up for the lower price.

ahhh...then you know what I am talking about if you worked in commission sales there.

No commission, but they pushed their credit cards hardcore. We got someething like 1 or 2 bucks for each credit application turned in. I got a kick out of the commission-based guys though. They would kiss the ass of every customer.
Hey, I can't vouch for what my customer service people do.
Did I mention how hard it is to find a good worker?
LOL, there goes another one!

Price matching works fine for brick and mortars, because you are only matching nearby stores. On the net, every store is "near-by".
true, but doesn't that make it even more competitive and in a sense necessary? that means with the click of my mouse I can go shop at another store offering a better price.
* Selection (do you have to split up your orders with other stores, or can you one stop shop?)
I have been frustrated with bulknutrition.com a time or two. However I still go back everytime b/c they ship VERY fast and they have the selection. I hate splitting orders.
We aren't perfect that is for sure. I keep trying to workout the kinks. It is hard to find people to work for you that have half the passion you have as an owner.

Believe me, I understand that totally. In accounting, I am dealing with professionals with college degrees and I still have this problem. As Clinton said "I feel your pain."
If we matched the cheapest prices, we wouldn't be in business. I just try to give good prices a lot of selection.
If you look at some grocery outlets for example, the margins are already low. What happens often is you take a loss on a couple special products, maybe break even on a few others with monthly sales, and then make it up elsewhere. I'm sure everyone knows this, but if you tried to match every sale product everywhere else you'd have no profits because sales products are break-evens often or perhaps again sold at a loss.
