Personally i take them 45min to 1 hour before i lay down to bed, and 95% of the time i fall asleep quickly. But everyone is differnt. I would test different times and see what fits you best. and remember i read an article that said not to consume calcium before you take your ZMA or the zinc will not be corectly absorbed. Thats just what i read. Best of luck to you

It also has an effect on hormones, in studies people who took zma had higher testoterone then people whom took placebo. After a workout the body is low in both magnesium and zinc and these are needed to produce hormones.

"Specifically, Brilla reported that "a group of competitive NCAA football players who took ZMA nightly during an eight-week spring training program had 2.5 times greater muscle strength gains than a placebo group. (250% better results!) Pre and post leg strength measurements were made using a Biodex isokinetic dynamometer." The strength of the ZMA group increased by 11.6% compared to only a 4.6% increase in the placebo group."

Take it on an empty stomach, 30 minutes prior to your beadtime meal/shake (which shouldn't have calcium in it, ideally)
