Sup guys!
Im trying to figure out the formula for calculating bodyfat. I total forget how to do it.
Easy Example: If someone is 222lbs 30% bf how do you figure out how much weight he needs to lose in order for him to be 10%bf?
I always thought 1% BF = out to 3.5lbs but I think I am abit off.
Its been awhile since I even attempted figuring this out so I am abit slow in terms of remembering the forumla![]()

No algebra required.
How did you find that 30% bf is 155.4lbs?Originally Posted by nsimmons

When I did it I did the following:
Weight - 222lbs
BodyFat - 30%
Divide total weight by 100 = 1% body weight
220/100=2.22
2.22=1% bf
FAT - 2.22x30=66.60 (67lbs)
LBM - 222lbs-67lbs=155lbs
10%BF - 2.22lbsx10=22.2lbs (155+22.2=*177lbs*)
I need to be 177lbs in order to be 10% BodyFat

222 * 0.3= 66.6
222-66.6=155.4
just realized you might have misunderstood my post...155.4 LBM lean body mass, the 66.6 is the 30% fat
Nope I understood you. I just think 170 is wrong? so your calculation say at 170lbs a person who was 30%bf would be 10% bf? How did I get 7lbs more than you brotha?Originally Posted by nsimmons

your math is wrong, 2.22lbs % body fat is only valid at 30% fat, when you get down to 10% fat the lb per % is going to be lower. Besides that your way of dividing 222 by 100 gives mass per %, (a mix of muscle, fat, bone, water, etc) not just body fat.
try this
Final Weight = (Current weight - (Current weight*current bf%)) * 1.desiredbf
example
(222 - (222 * 0.30)) * 1.10 = 170.94lbs to be 10% bf with no muscle gain
shitty algorithm but it works on my calculator
Hmm intersting. ThanksOriginally Posted by nsimmons

This is what i calculated
222lbs At 30%
LBM=155.4lbs=70% of 222lbs
Bodyfat=66.6lbs=30% of 222lbs
To be at 10% body fat with the same LBM of 155.4lbs
LBM= 155.4lbs=90% bodyweight
Bodyfat=17.2lbs=10% bodyweight
Therefore bodyweight =172.66666.lbs
30% means you have 66.6 lbs of fat mass, and 156.4 lbs lean mass, So 1% of body fat is 2.22lbs about 1KG, 1% of total fat is .666lb
These are my dreams, which I must make reality!
right, but thoses numbers are only valid at 222lbs total..it will be different at 10% bf
