nope, I don't think they are necessary if you consume enough protein.
Yes
No

Do you take them? If you eat 220grams of protein a day do you really need to supplement with amino's?

I use high-dose BCAAs daily. I think they're marvellous, personally.

arnen't you 'anti-glutamine', if so this seems sort of contradictory, no?Originally Posted by Robboe
if your protein intake is high from complete porteins, i.e. whey, then why would the BCAA's be necessary, seems that they would be pissed out.

I remember when I was 16 and reading FLEX magazine. I saw Paul Dillet advertising BCAA's and I went out and bought some. The advertisement said "Paul Dillet uses BCAA's to stay ripped through something or other". I was so gullible.Originally Posted by Robert DiMaggio

Not at all. the branch-chain AAs and glutamine are very different in the way they are metabolised and used in the body.Originally Posted by Robert DiMaggio
You only have to look at the research based on leucine and protein synthesis to see it is a good thing.

I think BCAAs are very useful especially when cutting. I never used them until the past year and I got down to 5%bf without any cardio whatsoever just lifting weights. I don't want to drink a protein shake in the middle of a squat workout but hey some grape flavored Extend I can have no problem. I think they help you hold onto more muscle when you're cutting.
I eat like 375g protein a day, and I use 10g BCAA powder 2-3 times a day.
These are my dreams, which I must make reality!
I took them before and didnt notice a difference from when i didnt take them.
