low carb mrps - confused now
in the past i used labrada lean body mrp
i liked the convenience. mixed easy. fast way to keep protein intake up without having to cook and pack one more meal. then i started trying to get leaner so i switched to labrada low carb lean body. tastes good. mixes well. little expensive though. now i'm confused....what makes a low carb mrp any different or better then a protein blend? i may switch to optimum either complete protein diet or pro complex instead of the labrada lean body mrp but realize they're different. one's protein powder and one's mrp. but once the mrp is low carb - is it really any different or better then just protein powder? also 'til now i've only used the protein powders at home after gym (so i've been using whey) and always making with a blender. now i won't have a blender so are any good with just a shaker (or could this be what makes the mrps better for this sort of meal on the go thing) thanks! |

The difference between normal mrps and low carb mrps?
One writes the actual figure on the side of the packet for how many carbs it contains, the other lies. haha. seriously, i'd rather have a protein shake only with some whipping cream in it or soemthing. |

the low carb mrp is getting really expensive. i bet i can get better value on a tub of protein powder rather then paying for them to put it in individual packets for me.
now i only buy a whey for after gym. i'd want a blend for middle of the day meal usage. good idea on the whipping cream addition. any suggestions on affordable, good quality that tastes decent and will blend up ok without a blender? could get one of those stick blender things i guess to use at work but then i'm spending more money which i was trying to avoid to begin with by stopping with the mrp! any good in just a shaker bottle and then stir in a bit of the whipping cream? thanks for the help |

I use a "stick mixer" to blend my whey protein drink, I use crushed ice.

Hey nikegurl - someone once told me to use 2 scoops of protein, milk (8 oz) and yogurt (8 oz) for a cheap MRP. Tastes pretty good. I prefer a strawberry or raspberry yogurt with a choc protein powder. Oh yah, use a blender with this, not a shaker cup.

once again, check out proteinfactory.com - as far as high vs low carbs go, the low carbs MRP is only gonna make a difference if you are eating a low carb diet (less than 20-30g per day), once you get over that number, its not gonna matter much - also, check for the quality of protein being added into each MRP, some use "good" proteins while others use cheaper ones

thanks. i've decided to stick with straight protein powder and add to it depending on my diet at the time. more flexible that way.
the labrada has a nice blend - milk. whey and caseinate but too expensive right now with all the rest of it. something had to go! |
