    drinking protein

    Hi,
One of my friend told me that drinking protein whenever you work or not, he said it's not worth it to drink it everyday. He told me that once protein is used to the body, you won't gain muscle and its going to be pointless to drink protein. He told me that he switches the types of protein every 3 month to prevent the proteins getting used to his body. I'm using Myoplex Deluxe and i'm wondering that does it matter or is it true that it would be less efficient or worthless to drink protein when your body gets used to it. The guy also told me i shoud change the types of protein every month or when i'm done with the protein.

I've read some wacky things here on IM, but this has just got to be one of the most ridiculous things ever posted here.

sorry for posting this ridiculous form, but i was really getting frustrated with what my friend was saying. I' do really want to gain weight because im skinny and weighs 130lb. When do you guys usually drink proteins? post workout or pre? One time my trainer told me that drink before lifting weights, drink after lifting, and then drink one more before going to sleep. But, i'm not sure if i should do that or not.

If you want to gain weight, the best thing is to lift weights and eat. Food is best, but if for some reason you can't eat a meal, then drink a protein shake. Many people drink a shake right after their workout because it's quick to prepare and easy to consume, plus it's convenient to take with you to the gym.

One time my trainer told me that drink before lifting weights, drink after lifting, and then drink one more before going to sleep.
As long as you're eating 3 meals a day in addition to the protein drinks, that advice is OK.

It won't hurt you unless you are taking in more calories than your body can burn. In that case you will gain weight, but it will be fat, not muscle.

A whey protein shake after a workout is good because it's a good source of protein that is rapidly absorbed.
I love it when a plan comes together.
