Hard Weight Gainer need tips

I'm 25years old and have always been thin I weight 130lbs but looking to gain some weight I've started to eat more during the day throwing a couple PB and J sandwhiches in my day. And I started to take GNC 2200 weight gainer. I wanted to see if anyone had any other tips on gaining weight .

Also I had started lifting weight about a month ago but think maybe I should stop so I don't burn all my calaries. I'd like to gain 15-30lbs then start really lifting to shape up .

Thanks

Here's a tip:

After you finished your GNC weight gainer, i want you to never buy another 'weight gainer' again. Reason? They simply contain too many sugar/other junk that is everything bad and nothing good in regards to your physique. Not to mention that they taste like shit too.

Here's a recipe you can make yourselfI(and save yourself some money in the process)

2 cups skim milk - 200
1 scoop whey protein(chocolate) - 110
70g oats - 310
2 tbs peanut butter - 200

Total calories: 820
Protein: ~50*
Carbs : ~ 90g*
Fat: ~25g*

*All coming from good, clean food sources to maximize muscle to fat nutrient partition.

Don't stop weight lifting. The reason you are 'shaping' up is because you are weight training and thus building muscle! If you really want to conserve calories, minimise your cardio(basketball, football or whatever sports), or you can eat more to make up for it.

I can see you are a newbie. The most important you can do is to keep a food log, recording portion size and such. Calculate your daily calorie intake to know how much you are eating.
As you get more experience, you wont need it anymore because you have already learn to simply judge it visually and keep track of how many meal you ate.

Keep weight-training, keep eating, keep a food log, keep a weight training log to keep track of your progress.
Keeping an online journal here is another option.

In my opinion..............................
It takes time for our bodies to adjust to new routines... but they do.

Give yourself time to adapt to your new routine/lifestyle change, but keep at it. One of the hardest things i found was getting started and staying with it.... now, it's easy.

What i would say is, your weight training, keep it basic, stay with compound lifts, and definitely do heavy squats and deadlifts, personally, i look round the gym and these are two of the most neglected exercises.... why, because they're hard work. Squats build everything, they get you big and strong, they work your heart, your lungs, your matabalism and even your legs. The same with deadlifts, a good strength exercise, these will make you strong and work your whole body too.

Don't get conned by the guys in the gym doing their fancy little exercise for working their biceps, or back. To get started, basic is best. Let them get on with it and in six months lets see who's gained size and strength.

Train for nolonger than one hour, personally, if you're training longer, you're doing too much or not working fast enough.

No more than ten reps, work for eight and lift heavy. Heavy is what makes you strong.

And also, read up about nutrition, eat well - good stuff not crap. I found as soon as i started eating well, i made much better progress.

Stick with it young blood.... and most of all....... enjoy it.

Eat and train heavy. If you think you're eating enough, chances are, you're not.

Agreed. A consistant diet, training regime, and amount of sleep are the ultimate. Everything else is just an add-on.

You have to learn what works for you. After forming a solid diet, you can add things here and there that help you get the extra calories. For example, after dinner I'll grab a jar of natural peanut butter and a spoon then eat it by the spoonful as if was ice cream. Half a jar of peanut butter before bed makes a huge difference. Also, buy bulk dried fruit and keep it on you. You can reach into your pocket and eat dried fruit, nuts and seeds all throughout the day.

Definitely keep lifting weights. Don't worry about using too much energy. The key is consuming more energy then you use.

Heres your answer. Weight train less, eat often. You dont need to consume 3500-4000 calories like many would say. The way to gain weight and build muscle is to eat every 2 hours and consume around 20-30 grams of protein every 2-3 hours. N Large 2 is a weight gainer & will help you out alot! You can buy a 10lb tub for under $40. Best bang for your buck.

yup. another cheesy weight gainer claiming that maltodextrin is a complex carb (and being right on a technicality)

You do have to be in calorie surplus though...protein can't do it alone.

Yes, calories is needed but not to the extent that so many think. I always see these little tiny guys saying they eat 5,000-6,000 calories a day. Thats hilarious.
