cut and pasted from another board... might be incorrect but its an honest opinion
It is not necessarily the specific ingredients that are inherently bad, but the combination and dosage levels that they are used at.
EXAMPLE: MuscleTech Cell tech contains ingredients that have been proven to have positive effects on muscle size, strength and recovery. Such as creatine. The problems are as follows:
1) They mix it with an exuberantly high amount of dextrose, when half the amount would suffice for absorption.
2) They add ingredients that have not been proven to offer any positive effects, and are unstable, such as Alpha Lipoic Acid.
3) They make ludicrous advertising claims such as... "Justin Brooks gained 25 pounds of mass with the help of CELL-TECH added to his diet and weight-training program" Cell tech is either a remarkable product, or judging by the photos of Justin, he has been visiting his local pharmacy at the same time as picking up his 7lb bucket of CellTech!!!
4) They charge ridiculously high prices for what is essentially a very simple and straightforward combination of everyday products dosed at high levels.
5) By acting irresponsibly like they do (there are many other such companies) they bring the sport of bodybuilding into disrepute, and it will only be a matter if time before regular products are controlled by the FDA groups because of the misuse and abuse of what is essentially harmless products if used in moderation.
MuscleTech is just one of many companies (Cybergenics was another such company) on the long list of companies that manipulate consumers through bogus advertising campaigns and exorbitant prices.
In the end the only people who suffer are us: The bodybuilding community
This is why we need to listen to the experiences of our fellow bodybuilders and highlight the bogus products and the companies that make them.
Knowledge is King!
hey moto, that was very astute. I am giving you major props for what you said.
