    Creatine and Dextrose

I was talking with an old weight lifting friend of mine today; he just came back from the dentist and told me he had like 6 cavities.
It had been 2 years since his last visit and he has never had a cavity in his life.

We were trying to figure out why all of a sudden he would be getting cavities and the only thing we could come up with was the creatine he'd been taking for the past year and half that had dextrose in it, what do you think?

Is the creatine with dextrose causing his teeth to go, should this be a concern to all of us users of creatine with dextrose?????
    Cool

Really could be...maybe the solution is a quick brushing right after taking your creatine/dextrose!

Or maybe even drinking some plain water afterward. I've noticed increased tartar since I started taking supplements.

I have to agree, I dont think its the creatine or the dextrose at all.
There are 100s of other different reasons why he might be getting cavities. Like,
#1 how often does he brush his teeth
#2 does he get enough calcium in his diet(body builder usually need 2-3 times as much than a normal person)
#3 does he get enough sleep?
#4 you will definatly get cavities if you are on juice
#5 does he use chewable vitamin-c pills?
#6 stress will cause you to get cavities
#7 rapid weightloss WILL make your teeth break down
#8 Protein powder is extremely sticky and sticks to your teeth, does he use sugars in his shakes?
#9 Does he use any medicine what so ever?, alot of them cause dry-mouth
#10 De-hydration for long periods of time, cause cavities.
#11 Grinding of teeth when you sleep, or in the gym, alot of people grind their teeth when they lift heavy which will damage your teeth.
#12 Does he drink coke(diet, decaf etc), all of them contain citric and phosporic acid.

Or, because none of us know for sure...it CAN be the dextrose. He didn't really start getting cavities until he started with the creatine/dextrose.

Sugar can help cause cavities...dextrose is sugar...not too far of a leap!

Yeah, we went through reasons why he'd all of a sudden start gettin cavities and the Supplements and working out 3-4 times a week are the only thing that he's changed over the past 2 years.

Maybe its just because hes getting older, i just thought I'd throw the Creatine/dextrose thing out to see if anyones seen anything linking the posibility of it causing cavities.

    Thanks everyone!
