    Whey Protein

    Is this supposed to be used as a supplement. As in if I dont get nuff protien that day I throw it into some milk and drink it? or should I throw into some milk and drink post workout?

    It is a way to supplement your protien intake during the day. If you need to increase your protien and cannot seem to get there with solid food, then you can "supplement" with whey. Mix with water, milk, yogurt, etc.

    As far as post workout, you are better off with non-fat milk/yogurt or some other fat free liquid. The fat will slow down the digestion process, and you want the nurishment in the PWO drink (meal) to digest fairly quickly. Then you follow it up with a solid meal about an hour later.

    alright thanks. So i guess I will get a drink with alot of fat, cals, and protein? but mainly fat?

    I am not saying high fat at all. Just the opposite. Fat free or Non-fat means NO fat. Fat should make up somewhere between 10 and 20% of your total calories. If you are trying to gain weight, then you may want to increase the fats to 25 or 30%, however I would not recommend that unless you first try the lower amounts and feel the need to increase. Fat is calorie dense (9 cals per gram vs 4 cals per gram for protien and carbs). And a PWO drink should be less than 10% to help with a faster digestion process so that the nutrients are available sooner for your body to begin the repair/replenishment process.

    As a side note: If you feel the need to increase your fat intake, get it from raw or blanched nuts, fishoil caps, olive oil, etc. Not saturated fats from meat or dairy (fish is good fat). Small amounts of saturated fat is OK, but you do not want the bulk of your fat to consist of saturated fats.

    alright so high calorie/protein how many ggramms around? wat % of fat protein an calsshoulld i eat aday? 40 40 20?

    I suggest you go to the Diet and Nutrition forum and read the stickies at the top of the page. To determine what ratios are right for you, more data is needed. Such as what your maintanence calories per day are, what your goals are, what your current condition is, what training experience you have, and an overall understanding of what your commitment is to reaching your goal. There are folks who moderate the Diet/Nutrition forum who are much more qualified to comment on your nutritional needs than I am. So head there to continue your journey.

    most proteins are around 100 cals, 20ish gram of protein, 0 fat, 0 carbs.
