What should I take?

I currently just take Optimum protein and a multi-vitamin. I want to try another supplement. I am looking for something to help with recovery. I may miss a week of working out sometimes because I travel for work. I would prefer something that I don't have to take religously everyday. I would like to take it just when I workout. I tried maximum pump but did not enjoy taking 6 pills a day. I would like just a scoop of powder mixed with some water. I took phosphagen HP when I first started working out. I was only 17 though. I remember that worked well for me. Any ideas??? Thanks.

creatine. heh. my fav. supplement. it helps you recover quickly and adds mass to you. the first week will be a bit annoying cause you have to stock up on it but after that your good. just once a day and if you miss a day or two its not gonna kill you (at least it didnt for me)

4 pills before and 4 pills after working out? Seems like a hell of a lot. Is that really necessary?

well 4 capsuls is 3g of creatine. so in a day you're taking in 6 grams of creatine. I take 5 grams a day but 6 sounds about right depending on your body weight.

I like bulk cee. It's very cheap and powder is my choice. I mix it with powdered gatorade and you cannot taste a thing.

I would say just take some Creatine Monohydrate, IMO Creatine Mono is superior to CEE.
-Prolab creatine mono
-Creaform from Primaforce
-Any brand that uses "Creapure"

Another alternative is beta-alanine
Cheapest
-Bulk form (nutraplantet, bulk nutrition, giant)
Take 1.6g twice a day, 1.6g preworkout(30-45) and another dose 4-6 hours later or before.
You should see results in about two weeks, full results should be around 28 days.

Products
-Body Octane from MAN supplements

it is the "standard dosage" for CEE, it might be a bit much for some and not enough for others, depends on your bodyweight really.

That is what I figure. I weigh 175lbs. I'd imagine that dosage is more for a guy about 200lbs.

have you considered nutrient timing and what do you ingest post workout? It honestly sounds like you need a little help right there.

My diet could use some work. I usually do a 2 scoop protein shake and some fruit and veggies after I workout. Then an hour later I'll eat whatever she made for dinner. Usually well balanced. I used to be a diet freak but its such a pain in the ass. I eat my 6 meals a day. They aren't perfect but they keep me at my ideal weight.

fruit and veggies are okay, but they are NOT what you need right after a workout; depending on what side of the coin you're on, you should be getting a mix of fruit, yogurt and old fash. oats. Or, you can go the other way and have a high GI spike with either, white bread, a plain bagel with jelly, white potatoes- no skin, rice cakes, or make it easy and simple with 50-100g of dextrose/maltodextrin combo. Couple both of these concoctions with 2 scoops of whey.
I go for the fruit/oats/yogurt. My body seems ripe for it. All the time I was doing the high GI spike, it made me a fatass.

If you want to, post your diet-what a typical day looks like. Maybe there are other problems.

For recovery... Try a BCAA recovery drink during/post workout.

ICE is a good one

Heres how I train.

func the only problem with that is that he doesnt even know if he needs to do some adjustments in diet to relieve him of DOMS. I really dont think supps are the answer in this case. However, BCAAs are a good call.

I know my diet will get torn apart here. Why can't I be one of those kids who just lifts all the time eats 3 meals a day and is huge. Diet, diet, diet that is all I think about. I know its 90% of it and I hate it. I will give you a brief idea of what my diet looks like. Please don't make fun of it to bad.
7:00 AM
protein drink
apple

10AM
natural peanut butter and a small amount of grape jelly on 2 pieces of whole grain bread
celery sticks

1PM
Usually a piece of chicken/tuna/some red meat
a fist size of pasta/mixed veggies
my lunch very's

5:30PM
whatever she made for dinner
a well balanced meal, usually chicken
she is a vegetarian but its chicken, go figure

6:15PM
weight train/box

7:30PM
protein drink
fruit veggies

9PM or so
bowl of oatmeal with a banana
protein drink

No go rip it apart.

it isnt THAT bad-just needs a little work. I think I see your problem without spending a lot of money on useless supps.

Breakfast: You are better off having old fashioned oats and a banana/apple and a protein drink.

Midmorning: Need a revision here: Instead of what you have normally, have cottage cheese/tuna/casein drink (slow burning protein is what you need) with an apple or some type of fruit with a handful of almonds or walnuts.

Lunch: Put a salad in here with an olive oil/vinegar dressing, along with what you already eat.

Midafternoon-you need something around this time: 1/2 cup Old Fashioned oats and chicken breast is fine.

Dinner: I'd have soemthing very light-you need energy and protein to help power your workouts: Try 5 egg whites and one whole egg and fruit. it might be weird at first, but it is needed for energy.

Post workout: I wouldnt try for a high GI spike since it is late at night. Try 2 scoops protein with 1/2 cup oats again. If you get bored of that, try basmati rice or brown rice with a small amount of honey or some type of fruit. Either peach or plum can do; cut it in half. Eat only half.

Bedtime (1 hour before) 1 tbsp peanut butter and 2 scoops casein protein. Helps recovery and anabolism.

I think I covered the bases. Try this for a month and see how you feel.

A casein drink is a casein protein. You know how you buy whey protein well you can buy casein as well.

As juggernaut said Diet will be your key to success.

However if you do look into a CEE product I have tried xceed and it was decent. Good flavour as well.

casein is just like whey (tastes almost the same) but what separates that from whey is that whey is fast digesting while casein is slow burning and remains in the system a lot longer.
