    Supplements YOU think are good

    Hey guys,
New here so go easy. I've been traiinig for a number of years now and finally got onto a forum. Kind of got fed up with the adverts in the magazines telling me that their product is the most revolutionary and best working product.

So what supplements and by what companies have worked for you? (Whey protien aside - I think we all are up on that)

    EG
Creatine Regular monohydrate oVs HCL Vs CEE?
    HMB?
    ZMA?
    NO?

What about the all in ones EG Creatine, glutamine, whey mixes etc? Do you find its better to mix your own from 'cheaper' ingredients bought seperatly. I mean NO is basically arginine so why go for a more expensive NO product like A-AKG? Does it make much difference?

Who are decent manufacturers in your opinion? Ive tried Maximsucle most recently and they are OK. Im currently trying Sci-Mentor which seem to be pretty good. Tried muscletech in the past but was not impressed same with Prolab and EAS. Myprotien seem to get a lot of mentions on here.

    What are you favourite stacks?

Cheers guys! Be good to see what companies are hot or not.

Firstly the best products secondly if anyone has had any sucess in replicating products by buying seperate ingredients and combining them

EG GN enrage contians creatine, caffine, gurana, tryosine, tauring, arginine

surely its cheaper to but these all seperatly and combine them youself?

NO is basically arginine. so whay are we all being ripped off buying NO supplements when arginine is a few quid (UK) from a health food shop? Are ther any benefits to buying an all in one?

many supplements work, and many don't.

ill just address your direct questions...

    EG
    what is this? EC?

Creatine Regular monohydrate oVs HCL Vs CEE?
always start with mono, if you don't respond or don't like the bloat then try CEE both work.

    HMB?
not worth it. it is cost prohibitive for what you may get out of it.

    ZMA?
    great for sleep.

    NO?
NO may serve a purpose, in that it may help transport nutrients into the muscles, some may help GH, or it may just be to make you fell better. there are some promising ones and ones that are merely cosmetic. this is a good read..
    http://www.designersupps.com/product...s/nolimits.pdf

What about the all in ones EG Creatine, glutamine, whey mixes etc? Do you find its better to mix your own from 'cheaper' ingredients bought seperatly.
it will always be cheaper to get your own supplements in bulk and mix them, but one it is terribly annoying and time consuming, especially if you have to cap them yourselves. also good flavoring is quite expensive, so if you care about your tastebuds take that into consideration. and never buy glutamine, its a waste of money.

I mean NO is basically arginine so why go for a more expensive NO product like A-AKG? Does it make much difference?
the idea behind different forms of arginine is to get the same benefit of arginine, but at a much lower dose, so it does make a difference. there are other compounds other than argining that will cause a pump though.

Who are decent manufacturers in your opinion? Ive tried Maximsucle most recently and they are OK. Im currently trying Sci-Mentor which seem to be pretty good. Tried muscletech in the past but was not impressed same with Prolab and EAS. Myprotien seem to get a lot of mentions on here.
not a fan of any you mentioned, of the top of my head, (obviously) designer supplements, man, allmax, ergopharm, now, molecular nutrition etc.

    What are you favourite stacks?
there are many products that go well together...
    xceed + 8beta-anabol
NHA (rebound reloaded or AI of your choice + activate)
    body octane + clout
    scorch + melting point
    etc.

    Cool

For Creatine. i use Micronized by a company called Life Extension. Best Results ive ever had with any creatine. including cell mass, and celltech.
Stay away from everything by muscle tech, except for hydroxycut.
as for preworkout. If you are affraid of pills for some reason try MHP's TRAC extreme NO. poor taste, amazing results. other than that, i would stick with L-Arginine and B vitimans. considering they are the 2 main ingredients in most prework outs.

With creatine products you have to try various products and see what works the best for you. I prefer Xceed but a bulk powder CEE or KreAlklyn or even Mono should suffice. I also like bulk beta-alanine, it's an under rated supp since it doesn't produce pumps or boosts test.

Arginine Alpha Ketoglutarate (AAKG) Powder [100 Grams] - $6.99
Other than this, just good food, multivitamin, fish oils twice a day and a good whey product.
For fat burning; ECA or herbal burn
For creatine; CEE. Ironmag sells both of the above (herbal burn and cee). CHEAP!

I'll say it again, beta-alanine is a great supplement and is pretty cheap too. It has greatly improved my endurance as I can pedal harder and longer. Certainly a must have if you are an endurance athlete but I'm not sure how much of a benefit it would be to a bodybuilder. It should help you crank out those last reps though so I think it's of benefit.

IMHO Zma sucks. I never had any luck with it. As for promoting sleep, give me a shot of soco anytime and I'm a happy camper.

ZMA has worked great for me in regards to a deep sleep, also on ZMA 7 hours of sleep is enough for me in comparison to my normal 8 hours.

Melatonin helps me with getting to sleep.

I just bought a bottle of 5mg Melatonin pills from CVS. I took a small bite off of a pill and in an hours time was in dreamland. You get some really good deep sleep off of that stuff.

When you took ZMA did you take it about an hour before sleeping and on an empty stomach?

I know going on an empty stomach to sleep is not the best either, but if I took ZMA with food, it did not work for me.
