Is protein useless !!

If a persons myosin dictates how much muscle a person can gain on his or her frame , would it be safe to say that protein would be useless once a person has reached his or her potential NATURALLY !!

I know protein is needed to buld muscle. If a PERSON HAS REACHED his or her max petential dictated by his or her genes, chromosomes, myosin etc , would I be waisting money to keep buying protein when ONE CANNOT ADD MORE MUSCLE !!

HELL NO! When you workout your muscle breaks down in the process thus you need more protien to help repare. You still might not grow but you still need to the protein for repair. I don't believe that your genes and dna makeup can stop your growth. I just think that we are learning to much about nutriction to let our makeup hold us back.

You still have to sustain the amount of meat on the body, even if you aren't increasing it as you go along.

Anyone remember Momo Benaziza? I think he was 5'1" or so, and competed at 185 pounds. Someone want to clarify that? There is an italian guy that was 4'11" but I can't recall his name...

I have been training to grow for about 7 years now. I have been bodybuilding for 4 years. I am 5'7" and can bench around 390lb. I do not look like it though.
I train heavy until failure , I get alot of rest, I, eat alot of oatmeal, brown rice, chicken, potatoes, beef,WHEY PROTEIN, eggs, milk & I train each body part twice a week (2 weeks out of the month ) & then once a week the other two weeks of the month. I usually weigh about 195 in the off season. Every year I end up 159lbs ripped on stage with no gain. That guy who was 5'1" & weighed 185lbs just was blesses as being a short endomorph (thick) person.
There will always be ectomorph, mesomorphs, & endomorphic types of people. Without taking steroids , which I know will help me build muscle, I think once a person has reached his or her body type limit (ectomorph ...etc) the eveything else is worthless.
I do believe that the protein is needed to maintain the muscle you have but other than that A persons genes, myosin, body type, chomosomes & dna will not let you put on more muscle than your heart ,veins, joins, & organs can handle . If your take roids then thats another story !!
I want to beleive in protein & I really want someone to prove me wrong & explain why some people can workout for years , do the right things, lift for muscle gains etc & still not change a bit !!!

Your veins etc etc come up to par with the rest of you, this is why we get larger veins to carry more blood. Marathoners have the same thing, increased vascularity and increased ability to carry oxygen through the blood. Coffee even will open up the veins a little bit, and runners have used it many years ago as one of thier known training aids, running in the mountains, injecting hemoglobin, etc.

If your really strong and not large, maybe your not training in the right rep range, and with the right rest periods? What is your current routine? I think you need to look at your current routine before blaming genetics, how often are you changing it up as well.

Here is an example of my chest workout. Bench press; warm-up set of 135lbs for 10 reps, 185lbs for 10 reps, 225lbs for 8 reps, 275 for 6 reps, 315lbs for 4 to 6 reps (failure) then 335 lbs for 2rpes. I then go to incline bench & do 4 sets of 6 to 8 reps up to 275lbs. I do this every 5 or 6th day. The next workout I do dumbell presses & incline presses. I change up my workout every other week. I get stronger but no more muscle.

Looks not far from a powerlifting routine.

I lift heavy for reps . The strength comes but no muscle mass. All the lifting I've done leads me to think that the only thing protein can do for me is maintain what I have.

Protein isn't magic, its there to support what is needed by the body. I still think your doing a powerlifters routine though, which might be great periodically, but I think thats partially why your limiting yourself, as well as maybe just flat needing to break your current routine and throw something new at your body.

Trust me...you haven't reached your growth potential...very rarely do natural trainers ever reach it! And even if you did, protein would still be required to maintain existing muscle.

it sounds like you may need to focus on your diet. do you count calories ? what are your macros ?

many weight trainers think they are eating enough to promote gains in LBM while in fact they are not.

that the biggest mistake made by trainers who do not see the gains that they desire. most likely you are not eating enough to promote the gains in LBM that you seek.

start counting calories and watch your macros, you will gain weight !

I think you are eating enough calories and growing well in the offseason. You are getting up to 199 lbs, but are dropping back to the same weight each time you diet down. Your problem most likely lies in your pre-contest prep. You are probably eating away too much muscle tissue during this phase...this needs to be corrected for you to compete heavier!

This is good advice as well. I recommend that most naturals stay closer to contest weight in the offseason than they often do. More muscle is usually retained this way come show time.

Gopro, can too much protein cause KIDNEY problems. If so, how can a person get ones protein without if affecting ones kidneys/organs.
