    Blend your own.

    Try 1scoop chocolate ON casein,
    ½scoop vanilla whey
½scoop raspberry whey (love Whey Gourmet.. Mmm!)
    2tbs heavy cream
half doz strawberries (buy 'em fresh & freeze 'em)
handful of cranberries (same. fresh. frozen)
    ½tbs peanut butter (omega 6)
    ½oz walnuts (omega 3)
    1pint water

    Blend on "liquify" for 2minutes.

Makes 2 pints of killer yummy goodness. You can add a banana if you want (or even if you don't want and just have a squishy one you need to use up!).

From what I understand the fats prevent (or at least reduce) your body's capacity for gluconeosis (i.e. converting protein to carbs) so don't skip the cream/nuts in an effort to make reduced calorie version.

It's fucking delicious this shake. I promise you.

What's the lactose content on that?

I use water and cream because it's sugar free.

    No simple carbs allowed!

Not sure i've ever heard or read anything about the body being able to convert a protein to a carbohydrate. did you mean using protein as a fuel for the body like a carbohydrate? that would make sense to me.

dry curd cottage cheese (no fat, moisture content near zero), send it through the blender and cream it.

Add flavor (dry pure cocoa is good), almond butter, chopped almonds, topped with ground organic dark chocolate.

    It's a fricken dessert.

creamed cottage cheese, salsa + avocado makes one hell of a dip/spread as well.

A carbohydrate is ultimately sugar in one form or another so that statement is "sort of right". Complex sugars require additional breakdown in the liver before they can be used by the body.
In the absence of a carbohydrate source, the body will use Gluconeogenesis, to synthesize glucose from non-sugar sources. This process mostly takes place in the liver as well. To get the body to convert protein will require the presence of fats (glycerol), hence the popularity of ketogenic diets ('cept they promoted using shitty fats to the nth degree).

The body's number one goal above all others is to produce glucose for the brain, vital organs are number 2. Skeletal muscle is somewhere further down the list.

Like Gordo says... amino acids converted to sugar (i.e. carbs)...

    glu·co·neo·gen·e·sisPronunciation: "glü-k&-"nE-&-'jen-&-s&s
    Function: noun
    Inflected Form: plural glu·co·neo·gen·e·ses /-"sEz/
: formation of glucose within the animal body from precursors other than carbohydrates especially by the liver and kidney using amino acids from proteins, glycerol from fats, or lactate produced by muscle during anaerobic glycolysis called also glyconeogenesis —glu·co·neo·gen·ic /-'jen-ik/ adjective

Sorry, I called it Gluconeosis above. It should be gluconeogenesis.

I would suggest simply shopping around at your local "health food store" i.e. Sprouts, Henry's, Jimbo's (there is a nice Sprouts by my place I like to frequent). Look in the protein powder section for Cassein powder and buy the one that has exactly what you want. I'm not truly convinced on brand names vs. reading the back of the label and making sure it has what I want and not subsitutes or extra stuff I'm not familar with. I haven't added Cassein powder to my arsenal yet. Been reading up on it quite a bit though and have been considering to take it after my workouts and before bed. Still researshing though. Sticking to the Whey for now however

    Good Luck!
