The Great Debate: Creatine!

Ok I've heard a lot of different things about creatine. I heard it slows you down in sports and the only reason it makes you bigger is because it puts water in your muscles and you loose all your gains once you come off it. On the other side of the coin, I've heard it is not dangerous and it is a natural substance to your body that can be very beneficial. So put in your 2 cents to the debate. I'm interested to know because most of you guys know what your talking about.

It's completely natural, it's an endogenous substance that your body naturally produces, and you get from meats in your diet. It has shown no adverse side effects in people without a pathological disorder (ex: kidney disease) and has a lot of favorable research. Athletes of all kinds can benefit from it....

I actually have not tried it, but I have friends on the football team who have.

I personally can notice guys who use creatine and guys who dont. They have sort of a "bloated" look, and their muscles dont seem as cut or defined. They are BIG, and I workout with them and the guys who are takin creatine do seem to have an edge in the gym; they are generally all jacked up while lifting and can lift quite abit. I have definitely noticed that bloated, almost soft look. I dunno, maybe its just me, but I have been getting great gains from consistant weight training and proper diet, my muscles are looking more cut and defined than them and I havent needed creatine. IMO, I would avoid it and try to be purely natural. but thats just me, and I know alot of people who stand by creatine.

Oh, and probly 85 % of all the guys who use it have backne. coincidence? I dont know. but something to ponder.

Creatine does not cause acne that's just puberty, hygiene issues, OR it's most likely all these uniformed teens using so called "test boosters" that are really not herbal at all and actually steroid based. People think since it's legal it's OK....Creatine is 100% safe considering you do not have kidney disease or a similar disorder.

Ceatine, for the most part, does work and works well. Some forms of creatine work better than others. I would say the only athletes creatine is not safe for are wrestlers trying to cut and make weight. This would wreak havoc on electrolyte levels and water levels in your body, and could be potentially harmful.

As mentioned above, there really is no debate.
Creatine is safe and effective.

the first time i used it i had tremendous results... just felt like i had more strength and endurance in the gym...

i took it again last year and it didn't really have the same effect for some reason? it was the exact same tub of stuff i used the first time too... it was just powdered creatine monohydrate that you mix yourself... now my biggest problem with it is frequent urination... like i'm talking every 15 minutes... it's just inconvenient... and waking up several time throughout the night having to take a leak eventually gets exhausting...

so my question is, do the pills have that same effect? i'd like to give it a go again sometime and try to get the results i achieved the first time i used it... because for me when it works, it works quite well...

Agreed. Actually, thats what made me quit taking creatine. I felt like I couldn't ever go out places and have fun because I would have to urinate every couple of minutes. Lame.

Like with any supplement, different people will get varying results from it. All i got from it was a decrease in lactic acid buildup, so i didnt get that stupid burning sensation quite as easy.

Just for that, the price of the stuff wasnt justified. Id rather buy more food and put up with the "pain" :P
