    Post-Op Supps

Going under the knife in just under a month Oct 14. For possible SLAP tear and acromioplasty.

So any suggestions for post op supps to help with recovery?

I will probably bump up the Vit C.

But any further info would be appreciated.

Cissus is very effective at helping with joint and bone pain/recovery. There are a list of supplements that I have read once before that can help you in this department. I'll check over at another forum and report back if someone doesn't get to it before me.

im not familiar with the acromioplasty, but im sure you will be prescribed medication. i had two hip surgeries, both to remove my labrums (which were shredded) remove bone spurs and reshape the heads of the femurs. post op they gave me percocet and naprosyn. the naprosyn was a life saver, so if anything i would look into the most potent anti-inflams you can find herbally. i tried bromelain, but it was nothing compared. if you are getting bone work done, then cissus will help as it has been shown to help fractures heal faster.
in rehab, test bossting may help, but we will wait until then.

Acromioplasty is where the shave down part of the Acromion so that the impingement is removed.

    Thanks everyone.

well consider the amount of athletes that take steroids to boost their recovery time. the same works for normal individuals. now i dont recommend taking steroids, but a test booster during rehab couldnt hurt.

Although steroids may be taken by professional athletes to increase recovery time, I believe for this to be only the issue for muscular recovery or even masking the pain associated with other possible injuries. After a surgery, I believe they would take in exogenous sources of test to get them back to where they were. When we are talking about surgery on joints, there are many other factors that I don't believe extra or added test will help. HGH would be a different story as it can help heal and regenerate connective tissue. but like I said, I don't think an increase in test levels would do much, outside of possibly decreasing atrophy.

a discussion i had with a very smart member on another board, this is what he said:

"Activate will enhance free test and a little bit E2 levels, which would boost a more anabolic bone environment, help with fracture healing and tissue repair. Back in the day, athletes used to take oxandrolone or nandrolone after injuries or surgery to speed up healing. Activate would IMO do an excellent job but completely legally and without the adverse effects of AAS."

first he isnt with ds, and spoke about activate because he knew i had it on hand, if you like swap out activate with any supplement that focuses on free test (although activate is basically THE one for this).

I know I'm fairly new here and I'm not here to stir anything up. I AM here to learn and help pass on info so I'll just play devil's advocate here. I am no Dr. so really I'd just like to start up a convo as to why that would work.

First, estrogen has a huge role in the health of bones, so a lack thereof actually starts the onset of osteoporosis. Now, anavar (oxandrolone) has been said to actually help treat osteoporosis, and deca (nandrolone) was at one time recommended, although it is not anymore. Regardless, I'm not exactly sure how you can compare the effects on bone growth or health from these two compounds to testosterone. What we are talking about are completely different chemical structures, and at least anavar (and Im sure Deca) is supposed to act on the androgen receptors much more than testosterone. Whether that matters or not here I am unsure.

So, if you've gotten through all of that, I'm not exactly sure how you can compare those two compounds to actual testosterone, whether it be exogenous or just an increase in your own free test. If they were the same, there would be no difference in them, results, sides, and otherwise. But they are all a world apart.

My assumption is that those compounds listed only work to help stop bone waste, but not actually help heal bones. If you know about the process bones go through with regeneration, you will understand what I am saying.

Like I said, I am no expert, this was merely my thoughts on the matter, but without a backup argument, I see it as pretty valid. Thoughts?

PS-You could always send me some Activate....Ive been wanting to try it

They have medicine in Canada now?

I hope it goes well for you!
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.
