    Need some advice

    Guys im from Srilanka and im in hunt for a suppliment to gain muscles.Im bit skinny n 22 years old.I started workouts.normally i do twice a week.I tried Megamass,Brewest yeast n some other stuff.Nthng workd.If any one can let me know a gud suppliment.

    If you want to grow you need to eat, not take supplements. Also, depending on what you do, two days a week or working out is probably not enough. Tell us your workout regiment and tell us about your diet (total calories and macros). Once we have that information we can help out more. No matter what type of supplement you are taking you WONT grow without proper nutrition and a solid workout plan.

    Pretty much everything I know about nutrition and bodybuilding I learned from built and the other helpful, intelligent people on this forum (Fufu, P-funk, Merberka, Gaz, ect). The only person acting like a punk ass is you for telling me NOT to help out others. He is asking for help, I gave him the best advice I could. Advice that I believe built would have given to him too IF she was online right now. I assume when built gets on she would ask a similar question to the one I asked him. Therefore I asked it for her, so hopefully the OP can give the answer, then built can answer the next part of the question because I may not have the answer to it.

    There are two important reasons people use forums.
    1. To get advice from people with more knowledge than them
    2. To give advice to people with less knowledge than them

    I am doing my best to learn from the people who know more than me and help the ones who know less. If you like to come on these forums and read about people asking for help but then decide to NOT offer help that is your perogative, but don't attack me for offer up all the help I can.

    My reasoning was for the advice to come from a Built and those who know what the hell is going on, not from people who just regurgitate something they were told, but truly do not or have not researched it enough to be handing it out. Just because a person told you something, and you listened, and it may have worked, doesn't mean you fully comprehend and know the science or facts behind it to act like you can now educate others. Point being, regurgutating something does not make you qualified enough to hand out health advice. Save it for the ones who studied, read, educated either via school or clinical/text studies to advise. Opinions are one thing, giving out health advice as if you are a foregone expert is another.

    calm down fellas. the best advice for newcomers is to not take supplements until diet and routine are in check. otherwise supplements become a crutch.

    I learned everything the same way we all do: a whole lot of reading.

    I also remember being shit on for regurgitating what I had read. Somehow, over time, what you know becomes your own. I find myself reading articles I read several years ago - only now they make much better sense to me.

    Thing is, there's a Pareto principal going on here, yanno, where 80% of the results come from 20% of the information. (To all you fellow business and stats geeks out there, yes, I know, I'm taking liberties with Pareto...).

    GOtriSports has a strong handle on the 20%. So do I.

    I've spent the last 7 years chipping away at that 20% and the remaining 80% and I am nowhere NEAR through. Hell, I feel like I'm just getting started!

    But the right 20% got me off metformin and gave me delt veins. And that same 20% is way more than most people seeking help from professional trainers in gyms will ever get their hands on.

    GOtriSports gave good advice.

    Yea...thats what alot of people do. They have suck ass nutrition and take supplements, fail, get frustrated and take steroids and see minimal results because they don't have their nutrition in place. Speaking of which I have to go eat.

    I wasn't saying his advice wasn't applicable in this situation...what my point was is basically a newbie portraying they have a vast amount of knowledge of experience. Can someone give advice that works?? Yes. Does it mean they know the roots of the knowledge of the workings of the knowledge?? No. I could go to the anabolic section and regurgitate what I have read, never tried or researched, and be close to spot on with it. Does it qualify me to spit it to a person asking real advice, hell no!!! I can watch Dr. Phil and hear him advise people with clinical phsychological advise, but in no way does it make me smart enough or strong enough in the field to in turn give that to another. Learning on here is great, stating what works for a particular individual is great, but I don't feel one should be in every forum on here portraying themselves as one in the know, TRULY in the know, on proven subjects that are based on true knowledge, not just repeated script. That is MY OPINION only...I want advice from someone who KNOWS, not from someone who just heard and tried and by chance it worked. Make any sense??

    To be honest, you really have no idea how much research or education I have on the topic. Obviously I am not NEARLY as qualified as built and the other well educated people on these forums, but I am an athletic training major in college right now and part of our curriculum involves nutrition for athletes and supplementation. I am just starting to broach the out edges of all the information but I am trying my best to learn it and part of learning involves application. I do have enough knowledge to inform the OP that they need to work out a solid diet and exercise routine before they being any supplementation. I didn't go beyond that because my knowledge is limited. As I stated before, my hope was that my response would elicit another post from the OP with some mroe detailed information on his diet and exercise routine and then someone with more knowledge such as built would be able to respond further.

    We hear the exact same question from the OP probably 5 times a day. We end up wasting time always because we cannot really help them until we hear about their diet and exercise routine. I was trying to get that information out of the OP as quick as possible so he could recieve more help from others. You obviously just seem to dislike me so you would rather waste time arguing with me on thes forums than doing something positive and helping others.

    PS: You are not THAT much bigger than me, so I don't really think you should be calling me a punk ass either

    biggfly, maybe this is just a perception issue. Personally, I'm delighted when people pass the torch like this - it saves the rest of us a ton of time.

    Turns out that 20% really isn't all that complicated. Shhh... don't tell the fitness rags!

    GOtriSports offered that growth comes from food, suggested the OPs training may not be adequate, and asked him to post up more detail about both so we - not he alone - will be able to better advise him.

    biggfly,how would you suggest he make these very appropriate suggestions without coming off to you as if he's "all that"?

    Actually, you are officially more qualified than I am.

    My education is in mathematics and operations research. I've never even taken first year biology. I just read a lot.

    Listen...FIRST yes I am...I am 6'0 218...you are 5'11 190 so give it up there. 28 lbs difference isnt that much...yea and losing a 100 meter dash in track by 2 seconds isn't that much either. Whatever. You want to get into stats, bring it. 190 Bench, 285 squat?? Ok big guy. We get it, you are the BIGGEST guy and STRONGEST guy in your gym, everyone loves to stare at you, and you love wearing wife beaters and tight clothing. We are all clear on that now. Alot of people on here argue, and there seems to be someone for everyone on here who rubs them the wrong way, you are mine. There, I said it...your staring post simply soured me on you, as shallow or petty as it seems, shit like that is one of MY biggest pet peeves. There you have it in a nutshell.

    Thanx alot for al ur comments....To start with i jst start workouts....Its twice a week....And its goin smoothly n hopin to increase it gradually.....so i jst wntd to knw a gud suppliment to take....im nt so familiar with suppliment stuff.....whts steroids??
