What to use now?

Ok, I am 30, been weight training for past 8yrs or so. Been stuck in a rut for awhile, weigh 185lbs 5'8, can't pass that 300 bench mark. Looking to gain mass and strength been using nitro core 24 and no-xplode. Diet is fine. What supps should I try next? Thanks

well, i am not a fan of no-xplode at all, but assuming you like that. during your workout add in some bcaas, even better some bcaas and carbs would be ideal. a test booster like activate xtreme would definitely help, and if you arent adding carbs during your workout, add them in post workout with your protein. you should see some strength and stamina increases.

The question's are...what does your workout look like?
What does your diet look like?

I'm willing to bet youre overtraining the triceps and shoulder areas and your back work will make a difference. Post it all

Can't get stronger, so it must be a lack of supplements??

Merkaba beat me to it.

My honest answer is look at your training (what you have been doing this week, last wee, 4-weeks ago, 8 weeks ago, etc) and make sure it was consistent with your goals. Also, look at your diet and make sure your nutrition is sound.

But, if it is supplements you want, have no fear. The snake oil salesman will be around any moment now to tell you about his magical potion that will make get stronger and ripped at the same time with its "proprietary blend" of ingredients that have proven to get amazing results in cats using astronomical doses.

Pretty sad isn't it?

You mention proper diet and you are the snake oil salesman.
You mention a supplement you are the hero of the day.

its sad that both exist. unfortunately i assume that people's diets are in check, and its something i need to work on, as usually that they are not. its also sad that anything supplement related can be lumped with "snake oil." many supplements do work, and can add significantly to a proper training routine and proper diet, lumping them all together is just as ignorant as ignoring diet.

touche.

I'd say that about 90% of what I see in the stores or on online is garbage. The other 10% has the ability to help someone with an already healthy diet and sound training program, like you stated.

No, I have been at 180-185 for the past few years. Unable to gain anything. What do u recommend? I don't drink and eat really as much as I can. I was thinking of possibly trying some ph's haven't ever used them though.

I would not venture that much. I think 90% of people looking at supps lack in their diet and or training and that is the problem. Diet and training can always be tweaked once a sticking point is reached.

Though it may not be the best thought process. Sometimes people just need the motivation of "Supplement X" to clean up their diet and workouts.

A supplement, by definition, is something that is added to complete or extend a whole. It does not take the place of the fundamentals. Whether supplements work or not is somewhat irrelevant in this context as the kid is plateauing completely. This is not the case of adding a supplement. This is a case where proper education supersedes all other needs. Counting and manipulating kcals, macros and learning and utilizing proper training progressions is what needs to be taught here. You don't prescribe someone to take creatine to bust through a plateau, well you could if you sold the creatine of course, but you tell them to count calories, put on some weight, change their training, deload for a week etc.

Supplements, in my mind, are used to optimize and already working diet and training program. For example, I have a sound training program, not losing strength and in fact getting a bit stronger here and there while in a deficit and dropping 1-2lbs/week. My program already works and all I take is fish oil, whey and a multi. Now if I wanted to say optimize fat loss while preserving LBM, I can look into some sort of supplement to ADD TO my program. If my fat loss stops or my strength starts to drop, I'm not looking into supplements. I'm going to go to maintenance for a week, or drop some volume etc.

FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal - track your intake for a few days, run the average.

Then increase your calories by 500 a day. I suggest adding a tablespoon or two of olive oil to each of a few daily shakes, and or a shot of olive oil with a shake at bedtime. Easy healthy calories.

THEN look at the PHs and so on. You need to gain, that's food. You need to PARTITION those gains, that's supplementation.

Built's right on. Taking a PH will only make your need for more food that much more important.
