    Testosterone for life

Testosterone For Life | Abraham Morgentaler, M.D., Associate Clinical Professor, Harvard Medical School

I wanted to post this up. Until I read this book and realized all the hugely detrimental effects low test has on a body i resisted doing my TRT out of a silly pride. It's a good quick read and most libraries carry a copy.

Hello, just joined today. Start TRT tomorrow. I'm 42 and a competitive powerlifter who was always drug free. My total test in my last blood draw was 135. That was quite a shock. i figured being tired and gaining weight (the bad kind) was due to rotating shifts and getting older. Very glad I asked my doctor to check my test. Since I am truly a newbie to test, I don't know what to expect. My doctor seems very conservative. He prescribed 200 mg of cypionate/month. That seems low to me. Any thoughts

Yes, that's low. I feel better at 200 mgs per wk.

200/month will actually make your test level go lower, it needs to be in the 200+/week or better to do anything.
At 50mg a week it will drop you -270 points so you'd be negative test!

A aromatase inhibitor would help raise your levels too by blocking it being turned into estrogen.

Ugh. Why are doctors so affraid to really treat you? Even the nurse who gave me my inject said only once a month? That's strange... thanks for the info. I'll post my experiences and maybe see about a different doctor

Strange? What an odd choice of words to use in this situation. I was thinking more along the line of ignorant. Or perhaps, inadequate.

very ignorant, herp derp enanthate has a half life of 7-10 days (very rough estimate), we should probably give it once a month!

For the most part Dr. are VERY conservative about the doses. 200mg per month will have your levels roller coasting up and down...not a good thing. There are a few,VERY FEW Dr. that will prescribe injections once every week, but there are some out there. Im not sure what they based this own but they should do more research on this, as there is a ton out there and on here and then maybe they will up our doses. Some of the threads that Ive read have some of the guys upping their own doses.

Thats exactly how I felt at first when he was trying to see how my body would be affected by X amount of testosterone. He would give me a little and it would be great for a week or so, but then it was worse than before I got the shot. I agree with Hammer completely. It is having an opposite effect on you. You need to seek a second opinion or not go at all. There are also many sponsors on this website that might be able to help you

Knowing what you know, your only choice is to find another doctor, or go off the reservation like a lot of us do. [get it online and self educate]

yes indeed. I may price out a couple of the clinics although their prices I've heard are rather steep. So it may be time to go off the reservation if they don't up my dose. I dropped of a copy of that study and a couple on insulin resistance's inverse relationship with testosterone so we will see what they say.

At the very least TRT should be at 100mg per wk...400mg total for a month

This dose protocal is true TRT...go get a second opinion

But, for now just split the dosage to 50mg every wk to keep blood levels stable...

IMHO a lot of docs ie: PCP's are not educated enough to know what they are doing w/ TEST Treatment, along with the already mentioned ultra conservative philosophy (because they are ignorant of the topic) so a second opinion may result in same unless u can b lucky enough to pick someone who knows , and is willing to write correct dosage and due appropriate F/U's

Unfortunately I got the whole 200 in one shot so I can't spread it out. I called and got a not so friendly response. As usual docs.treat you like a drug seeker. I can get it anyway as we all know. I just want to feel betterand do it legit. Good news is I may have found a good doctor but I'll have to pay out of pocket.

My doc prescribed the exact same protocol. I get 1 200mg dose per month of Watson Cyp. Needless to say, it wasn't a pleasant ride. After some research on here, I also supplement every week with 1/2 CC [125mgs of cyp - the BD cyp I use is 250mg/cc]. I feel much better now! I haven't blasted (yet?), and I have some Aromasin for gyno if it flares, but haven't needed it. Most recommend Nolva for emergency gyno flares, but Nolva is contraindicated for use with warfarin, and I am on that for life.

Test, and lack of test can exacerbate sleep apnea if you have it.

That is about correct Groomer, the half life is only a few days so you are up while its in your system and then back down again. I havent a clue why they are so conservative with the dosages.

In the endrocronology texts they state they don't want the patient to feel "too good" to just have enough test to "normalize". In part because of the fabricated claim it causes prostate cancer. IN the book he debunks that. The whole "link" was based on one man.
In fact your chances of damn near every disease increase by 80% with low testosterone.

Hello all..... I have a question....or I have several thousand questions but will limit it to one right now about Test replacement. I am looking for the best way to fist reduce/ block estrogen and increase my free test. Whats the pro's and con's of doing it naturally as opposed to TRT? Is 6-oxo still banned? I seen an add for it here. What about different supplements that actually work to boost test?

I am in the prelude of a complete rebuild and make over, but before I start I need to boost my Test and get my bodies nutritional chemistry in check. I would appreciate any info on the subject as well as potential strategies to boost test.
