So, my Dr. called me today to let me know my blood results. As it turns out, he says I have a normal range of 636, and for someone my age (26) it can be anywhere from 241-827.

I explained to him it was kind of odd, since I have no sexual desire whatsoever, amongst other things that may hint to low levels of test such as:

  • slow facial hair growth (used to have 5 o'clock shadow overnight, but no more!)
  • low ejaculate (sperm) after having an orgasm (used to be by the gallons, LOL)
  • no 'morning wood'
  • always tired
  • no interest in sex
  • erections aren't very hard

While I can maintain an erection, it seems to go limp rather quickly whenever I cease stimulation, which has never happened.

The Dr. wants other tests to be run such as thyroid, and then we can go from there.

I'm curious to know if my levels are indeed normal or should I have them raised? What else could cause low libido or the symptoms I'm experiencing?

Not sure what to tell you bud. I'm 30 years old and find that most of my friends have had a huge decrease in sexual interest over the last few years but I'm still pretty much like a teenager. The only thing I can notice is that I'm still very physically active in the gym which increases testosterone production in the body. I do notice in time frames where my training is down so is my libido. Are you still hitting the gym hard?

It's just odd because this seems to have happened over night when I was around 18 or so. One day I wanted to hump everything in sight, the next it was gone.

I hit the gym but probably not as hard as I should be doing. I guess its safe to say test isn't a reason as to why I'm not putting on muscle very fast.

I got mine tested, I'm 42 and my test came back at 371. My Free test wasn't tested but was obviously lower than that. My GP said it was normal for my age. My HRT Dr. said it was long and put me on TRT.
All depends on who's reading the numbers.

While my Dr. isn't a specialist in the area, I do plan on getting a second opinion with someone who is.

Duh.. Obviously, I meant low, not long.

That's not to imply that I'm not long though!

yes, that is considered "normal", and you will have a very hard time finding a doc to put you on HRT when you're testing out at 636ng/dl, so take it into your own hands.

Even I knew better than to go near that one.:nerd:

Dont you think he should figure out whats wrong before he "takes it into his own hands"?

Yeah, I won't do anything until I know what's going on. I'm sure whatever it is can be easily fixed. I have more blood work to do so I should find out soon enough.

I was responding to his last question which was:

I'm curious to know if my levels are indeed normal or should I have them raised?

99.9% of all docs will say his levels are normal (which medically speaking they are) and do nothing in regards to increasing testosterone levels.

Robert, do you see a reason to have them raised? While I don't know what my free test levels are, if they're low would they case the symptoms I'm describing even though total test is fine?

Even though the doc says your test levels are normal they're still going down and will continue to do so. Basically it's going to get worse. Before you do anything drastic like roids I'd try supplementing and see if that helps. I personally found the best legal testosterone raiser to be testostrogain.
It's not too pricey and you may find it's exactly the boost you need, give it a shot and see if it helps.

I haven't found too many reviews on testostrogain, but the ones I did were 50/50, positive and negative.

I had a scare a few years ago when I took VPX Meltdown. I'm kind of weary now of supps, although I still would like to try Novedex XT by Gaspari. I've always heard good things about it.

Your total testosterone is fine. Unless you have too much SHBG, I don't think testosterone is a problem for you.

Good point.
Incidentally, what was your SHBG value, eV?

my what value? lol

Sex Hormone Binding Globulin. Basically it's a glycoprotein that binds to testosterone and estradiol. The value determines how well your body can utilize testosterone in your body. Your test levels may be high but if they are bound, they aren't available to enter cells. So a high value means more of your test if bound than free. A lower number is what you want.
This likely was checked in your blood test. ask the Dr. what that value was. When my blood was tested, my SHBG was 44 and my HRT dr prescribed Stanozolol to lower it.

From what I know, only total test was checked as that's what was shown on paper. I need to have more tests done, but I would like them checked by a urologist as I would like to discuss other things with him, especially this matter.

A member on another board suggested I have my estradiol levels checked as well

What was the scare you got from VPX's Meltdown?

Had to go to the ER. I had a really bad panic attack which I've never had before. I seemed to have developed anxiety at that time for over a year, which was treated and now seems to be fine.

I had taken Meltdown the day prior with no problem, so it was odd. Since then I realized I don't need any stimulants/fat burners.
