I have 3 rules that I live by

Never get less than 12 hours of sleep
Never play poker with a man who has the same first name as a city
and Never involve yourself with a woman with the tatoo of a dagger on her body

you follow these rules and the rest is just cream cheese.

I think balance is key. Having the various aspects of your life locked down goes a long way to being healthier and happier. I'm talking about career/job & money, your social life, family life, fitness training etc.

Living a healthy is about finding activities that fulfill you and also about moderation in every aspect of your life. Positive thinking might seem like just a new age, hippie slogan, but it actually works. Re-evaluating certain aspects in your life can help you see that there's a bright side to each event, no matter how unfortunate that event might appear. A healthy mind means being rational and not letting yourself get overwhelmed with daily concerns.

As for a healthy body, again, moderation is the key. Eating healthy is of course important: fresh fruits and vegetables, "good fats", avoiding processed foods, there are tons of ways to make sure you're eating properly and giving your body all the nutrients it needs.

Exercising is part of a healthy lifestyle, but unless you turn it into something fun you might perceive it as a chore and avoid it. Try to transform exercising into a social experience: meet your best friend for a swim or take your kids out in the park, there are many ways to stay active. Also, don't obsess too much over your body image because like I said, mental health is just as important as physical health. Forget what magazines tell you about ideal weight or height and don't attach your self esteem to a number. It's of course important to weight yourself because you have to control your weight, but use a Quantum scale instead of your regular scale, it doesn't display a number, but simply informs you of any changes in your body.

Remember to stay true to yourself and make your own choices, it's the only way you can find peace of mind.
