Richard Davis, armed with a .22 revolver, fought off 3 armed gang members in 1969 Detroit while delivering pizzas. David went on to develop a new type of body armor, being used by law enforcement agencies around the world. His body armor is credited with saving numerous law enforcement lives, and he was able to develop it because in 1969 he decided to arm himself and not be a victim.

this guy is most likely insane

Not only did he invent a type of body armor, he killed three gang members.

Good for him! And everyone else!

Kevlar is so cool, not really it's actually fucking hot especially when you're boarding and searching rogue, un-air cond. ships in the devils taint, aka Persian Gulf...but cool as in high tech awesomeness....

it's definitely cool stuff, although getting shot still feels like you were hit with a cannon ball minus the physical trauma. even class 3a won't stop a good knife with a tanto blade so it has it's limits.

It wasn't bad back then. At least compared to today.

He says he didn't invent it, but he perfected it, with the ford analogy.

body armor dates back to pre-Renaissance

He started the armor company Second Chance. They went out of business after they started making vests out of a material called Zylon; Zylon would degrade with exposure to heat, causing the vests to fail, and resulted in the death of an unknown number of cops. They were sued into oblivion. LOL.

"Zylon gained wide use in U.S. police officers body armor protection in 1998 with its introduction by Second Chance Body Armor, Inc. But protective vests constructed with Zylon became controversial in late 2003 when Oceanside, CA Police Officer Tony Zeppetella's and Forest Hills, PA Police Officer Ed Limbacher's vests failed, leaving Zeppetella mortally wounded and Limbacher seriously injured. Some studies subsequently reported that the Zylon vests may degrade rapidly,[SUP][2][/SUP] leaving wearers with significantly less protection than expected. Second Chance eventually recalled all of its zylon-containing vests, which led to its subsequent bankruptcy. In early 2005, Armor Holdings, Inc. first recalled its existing Zylon-based products, and decreased the rated lifespan warranty of new vests from 60 months to 30 months.[SUP][3][/SUP] In August 2005, AHI decided to discontinue manufacturing all of its Zylon-containing vests. This was largely based on the actions of the U.S. government's National Institute of Justice, which decertified Zylon for use in its approved models of ballistic vests for law enforcement."

He made heavy kevlar vests that worked. He later perfected light vests that got people killed.

A very intresting news story! I don't know wether if it is googd or bad really :/

Later than that, the chinese used laquered layers of paper a long time ago, to me that was brilliant, if you have ever folded paper until it can't fold anymore you see it makes a very strong plate that if thick enough could stop most blades and arrows....

as a whole the world has under-estimated the Chinese. there society was just as advanced as that of the UK, etc. during the industrial revolution. the main difference being that those in the EU ran into problems when their land could not support the population and expansion for industrialization which is where the colonies in the US comes into play.

the Chinese will never let the international bankers bankrupt them like they have in just about every other country in the world

Yes, we know how you must idolize your communist buddies in China and the Central State planning model they implement. As well as their lack of protections on Intellectual property. If only McCarthy was still alive... People like you should be deported to Cuba. :coffee:
