Choose your own crime states

These politicians don't want to solve violent crimes or crime period. If they really did, they'd take an active role in those communities, live in those neighborhoods and shop at the same stores we do.

But they don't!

They live behind their walls and say FU, I got mine!

Most of congress are independently wealthy so they are already disconnected from the unwashed masses.

they go to meetings in US gov facilities protecting by fighter jets, metal detectors and armed professional security with bomb sniffing dogs, then get driven home in their armored vehicles with armed security.

and what do we get? stand your ground laws....LMAO!

only in the US

My favorite example as to how crooked they are.

STOCK Act passes in House - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor stripped a provision requiring those that collect financial information and sell it to Wall Street to register the same way lobbyists do. The House legislation does include a provision that would extend the new regulations to include the executive branch as well.

Will "political intelligence" stay in the dark? - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

In a move that infuriated Grassley, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor stripped the amendment out of the House version of the bill, saying that more study of the issues involved was needed. He also said the issue was outside the scope of the bill and wondered if the amendment could have negative consequences.

As CREW has noted, Cantor, whose largest contributor is the financial industry, has been the recipient of $23,500 and $15,000 in donations from Mark Gerson, chairman of Gerson Lehrman Group Inc., a leading political intelligence firm.

as are the rest of them that sell "free market" ideology to the sheep while they enjoy their crony capitalism....

Some of these politicians looked at congressional insider stock trading like a congressional perk.
In the case of Cantor, based on the article it can be inferred that he was bought off by Gerson Lehrman Group Inc.

and that's why the US gov ranks 19th in the world for corruption and once again at the bottom of the OECD.

And they want to repeal stand your ground.

And they want to repeal stand your ground.

it's a horrible law, any legislation written by ALEC does not benefit the public. they are an insidious group and the last thing they care about is the general public.

I read through many of the cases here in florida were stand your ground was successfully used as a defense, so many of them were people shoot in the back, etc. and unarmed. there is a time and place for violence and times when a person that can run should like when not cornered in public, etc. returning the US back to the days of the wild west does not solve a thing but taking lessons from far less violent country's would.

And they want to repeal stand your ground.

That's unfortunate, it's perfectly rational that someone has the right to defend themselves against bodily harm with force rather than have the duty to retreat. We have a similar situation as the problem laid out in the video, what opponents of the stand your ground law never talk about is the law itself. I never hear what text of the law they actually have a problem with. They ignore substance and focus on language that tells a scary story.

The Brady campaign and their ilk often throw out static statistics; stuff like 'there were X firearm related deaths in this country last year' or 'the US has a murder rate of X per year while the UK has a murder rate of X per year'. It should be obvious to anyone with basic math knowledge that if you want to look at the change resulting from gun laws you'd look at, well...change. You'd look at changes before and after gun laws are implemented. This is very rudimentary, so rudimentary you shouldn't be discussing numbers without understanding this concept; yet it doesn't get mentioned in the media and what the media tells people is often the extent of their knowledge on the subject.

There are multiple government reports that state the AWB was ineffective, including the "high capacity" magazine ban. This is in addition to all the numerous stats you can look up yourself.

of course its ineffective when they are purchased legally and used by a small percentage of people that "snap" and go "postal". there are already millions of them out there in the public an AWB does nothing to address that but what talk of it does it drive sales through the roof, the intended purpose. just like the fear campaign that started in the 80's, nothing more than another ploy to get Americans to consume more than is needed.

With all the ARs that flew out the doors of anyone selling one now in circulation it's going to be quite a job to round them all up without incident.
