At least 14 people were wounded in an apparent mass stabbing at Lone Star College's CyFair campus in Cypress, Texas, on Tuesday. The suspect, armed with what one witness described as an X-Acto knife, was detained.
The school was placed on lockdown.
Four victims were transported by helicopter with serious injuries "consistent with laceration," a spokesman for the Harris County Sheriff's Office said. Two others were taken by ambulance to a local trauma center. The rest were treated for minor injuries.
"LOCKDOWN at LSC-CyFair," the school's Twitter feed announced Tuesday afternoon. "Seek shelter now. If away, stay away."
Another witness told CNN that the suspect in custody was hearing impaired.
In January, three people were wounded in a shooting at Lone Star College's North Harris campus near Houston.
More than 90,000 students attend classes through the Lone Star College system.

It's hilarious that people who don't trust the government want to go down that path.

I wonder how many victims would have been saved if the students were able to carry a firearm on campus.

its a shame that people are hurting other people, but that's been going on since the beginning of time. We are a destructive and violent people instinctively. We try to rise above it but we keep falling back into the pit. Education is the key not restricting access to weapons, and I dont mean Schooling but people need to learn how to deal with their emotions and respond in a neutral or positive way. If I hadn't learnd it at an early age I probably would have gone on a killing spree in highschool... I hated those fuckers, literally had fantasies about holing up in a school room and picking off the lil MFers who i didnt like.
I'll get there or Die trying...

And somehow that makes you partially responsible for the victims of the mass stabbing according to the reasoning of many.

I Guess Now We Need an ?Assault Knives? Ban

    By Joe_BakanovicApril 9, 2013
Didn?t the sane among us warn the insane that, if they banned firearms, ?bad? people would just use knives, like that guy in China who stabbed 22 people? So, do you think this will come as a surprise to the insane?Report: Up to 14 People Stabbed on College Campus in Houston
CYPRESS, Texas (TheBlaze/AP) ? A sheriff?s official says one person has been arrested in a suspected stabbing attack that injured up to 14 people at a Houston-area community college campus, and that it appears he was subdued by at least one fellow student.
Now, do you think the insane will finally come to their sense after this incident and see the logic in this student?s reaction?Student Hammers No-Guns-on-Campus Policy on Live TV After College Stabbings: ?We Would Love to Have God & the Law on Our Side?
?God protected us in our classroom,? he said. ?We wish we could protect ourselves with guns and stuff. We wish that the law would let us carry guns because we?re legal adults, [to] carry guns on campus to protect ourselves. But so far all we have to rely on is God. But we would love to have God and the law on our side.?
But the law is on their side. The Constitution is very clear on this issue: neither the federal government nor the States have the authority to restrict an individual from keeping and bearing arms. The founders insisted on this for a reason, and to protect ourselves against mass knife attacks is just one of those reasons. Defending ourselves from the insane is another. The sane will see reality here: that laws do not stop the lawless. But, sadly, all the insane will see is a reason to ban knives.
[NOTE" I chose to use the term "insane" because that is what it means to be out of touch with objective reality. In spite of all the hard evidence to the contrary, we have people who still insist that banning guns will make us safer. It hasn't, it never has and it won't -- ever. So, by definition, those who cling to this argument exhibit a form of insanity, and all I'm doing is calling that behavior by its proper name. I'm defending the language, nothing more.]

    9Time to Ban Knives!

    Culture6 comments

A knife-wielding bandit sliced and diced at least 14 people at a Houston-area community college. Faster than a speeding bullet, but unable to outrun the Liberal meme, the bandit ran from building to building apparently looking for the place he left his assault rifle.

The unidentified suspect was arrested after a student tackled him on the Lone Star College CyFair campus, Harris County Deputy Thomas Gilliland said. Although initial reports suggested there was more than on attacker, Sheriff Adrian Garcia said a review of surveillance tapes showed ?one and only one suspect.? But it has been reported that the assailant did not possess a regular knife, but an ?assault knife.?
Garcia said the first calls to emergency responders about 11:20 a.m. CT reported a ?male on the loose stabbing people.? Ironically, the attacks occurred in the Health and Science Center and it appears that the assailant attacked people in other buildings.
The exact number of victims remains unclear. Garcia said 14 people were injured, with two refusing treatment.
Robert Rasa, of the CyFair Volunter Fire Department, however, put the number at 15, saying there were three people with minor injuries. He described all injuries as ?consistent with lacerations.? Lucky for those people, the assailant didn?t have his assault knife in ?auto? mode.
Four of the most severely injured and two others with moderate injuries were taken by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital. Two were in critical condition and four were in fair condition Tuesday afternoon, hospital spokeswoman Alex Rodriguez said.
The others were transported by ambulance or personal vehicles.

Next ban: Kitchen knives aka Assault knives!
BBC NEWS | Health | Doctors' kitchen knives ban call
    Doctors' kitchen knives ban call

Doctors say knives are too pointed
A&E doctors are calling for a ban on long pointed kitchen knives to reduce deaths from stabbing.
A team from West Middlesex University Hospital said violent crime is on the increase - and kitchen knives are used in as many as half of all stabbings.

They argued many assaults are committed impulsively, prompted by alcohol and drugs, and a kitchen knife often makes an all too available weapon.

The research is published in the British Medical Journal.

The researchers said there was no reason for long pointed knives to be publicly available at all.

They consulted 10 top chefs from around the UK, and found such knives have little practical value in the kitchen.

None of the chefs felt such knives were essential, since the point of a short blade was just as useful when a sharp end was needed.

The researchers said a short pointed knife may cause a substantial superficial wound if used in an assault - but is unlikely to penetrate to inner organs.

Kitchen knives can inflict appalling wounds
In contrast, a pointed long blade pierces the body like "cutting into a ripe melon".

The use of knives is particularly worrying amongst adolescents, say the researchers, reporting that 24% of 16-year-olds have been shown to carry weapons, primarily knives.

The study found links between easy access to domestic knives and violent assault are long established.

French laws in the 17th century decreed that the tips of table and street knives be ground smooth.

A century later, forks and blunt-ended table knives were introduced in the UK in an effort to reduce injuries during arguments in public eating houses.

The researchers say legislation to ban the sale of long pointed knives would be a key step in the fight against violent crime.

"The Home Office is looking for ways to reduce knife crime.

"We suggest that banning the sale of long pointed knives is a sensible and practical measure that would have this effect."

    Government response

Home Office spokesperson said there were already extensive restrictions in place to control the sale and possession of knives.

"The law already prohibits the possession of offensive weapons in a public place, and the possession of knives in public without good reason or lawful authority, with the exception of a folding pocket knife with a blade not exceeding three inches.

"Offensive weapons are defined as any weapon designed or adapted to cause injury, or intended by the person possessing them to do so.

"An individual has to demonstrate that he had good reason to possess a knife, for example for fishing, other sporting purposes or as part of his profession (e.g. a chef) in a public place.

"The manufacture, sale and importation of 17 bladed, pointed and other offensive weapons have been banned, in addition to flick knives and gravity knives."

A spokesperson for the Association of Chief Police Officers said: "ACPO supports any move to reduce the number of knife related incidents, however, it is important to consider the practicalities of enforcing such changes."
