The "conservative" justices, again, vote in favor of violating constitutional rights. This the beginning of a trend? The article makes mention of the Oklahoma City bomber, whatever his name is, and how he was stopped for a traffic violation. Strip searching him would have revealed that he was plotting to bomb the federal building? What are they trying to do? The Minority Report in real life?
If gunners were as violent as anti-gunners believe, logically there wouldn't be any anti-gunners left.

This is a very disturbing trend that is happening on both sides of the aisle. The self appointed "elites" no longer fear the people. We have let them do what they wanted, so now we are reaping what we sowed.

The reason they are not scared is intimidation. All these agencies are armed now and these are just federal. They use these to intimidate those who oppose them.

The very design of neoliberal principles is a direct attack on democracy.?

    This is pretty appropriate.

Justice Kennedy said one person arrested for disorderly conduct in Washington State "managed to hide a lighter, tobacco, tattoo needles and other prohibited items in his rectal cavity." Officials in San Francisco, he added, "have discovered contraband hidden in body cavities of people arrested for trespassing, public nuisance and shoplifting."

Justice Breyer wrote that there was very little empirical support for the idea that strip searches detect contraband that would not have been found had jail officials used less intrusive means, particularly if strip searches were allowed when officials had a reasonable suspicion that they would find something.

For instance, in a study of 23,000 people admitted to a correctional facility in Orange County, N.Y., using that standard, there was at most one instance of contraband detected that would not otherwise have been found, Judge Breyer wrote.

Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan joined Justice Breyer's dissent.

It's no business of the government or anyone else what someone wants to store in his or her ass. They put it there for safe keeping. It should only be an issue if they get that stuff out and use it while in custody of the state. If having a toaster oven your ass might make your stay in the pokey a little more comfortable have at it.

Yeah, but then that person would start selling hot sandwiches to the other inmates. Can't have capitalism in prisons. it is just would not be fair to the prisoners who don't have that big of an asshole. Let one guy anal cavity a toaster oven, the next thing you know, they would be smuggling in microwaves, TV's, refrigerators, air conditioning units, maybe a SUV to help them escape. It would be utter chaos.
