I have a pretty basic question about Keto diet macros. There are tons of keto articles out there but I'm having a difficult time finding a straight answer.
Question: Is the fat to protein ratio by grams or calories?
Example: Lets say (for simplicity) that someone was on a 50/50 fat to protein ratio and was taking in 300g of protein a day. That is 1200 calories a day of protein. Would that person then take in 300g of fat (2700 cal) or 133g of fat (1197 cal) to make the 50/50 ratio.
So in your example a 50/50 ratio would be 1200 calories of protein, and 1200 calories of fat. Use the grams when tracking your diet to figure out how many calories. Protein/carbs 1 gram = 4 calories, fat 1 gram = 9 calories.
