Through out the late 70's Mike Mentzer made a name for himself via his training training ideology called "HIT" known as HIGH INTENSITY TRAINING. He rose on the cusp of Arnolds retreat from the bodybuilding world. His ideas were fresh and his look was unique.
As with all champs we all wonder what led to the look that they had? Aside from the brutal HIT Mike developed people wonder what was his complex cycle of choice was?
The Answer was this:
Mike ran the simple tried and true simple deca
And Dianabol cycle. Simple, brutal, effective.....
I actually think Mikes training style ( while valid) could only be sustained by his liberal use of deca
. Mikes training was so brutal and challenging on the bodies connective tissue that he needed and depended on the massive water retention and connective tissue healing abilities of deca
Mike near competition "dried out" by backing off the dbol
, and opting in Winstrol for its DHT like attributes.
He used dbol
as his primary androgen in place of what you and I may use which may be Testosterone. dbol
not only functioned as his Adrogen of choice but also considerably elevated IGF levels. This on top of the deca
as Mike Base was simply a recipe for growth and performance. Near Comp time Mike would drop out most of the dbol
and replace it winstrol. The DHT like effect would offer an alternate Stronger Androgen with no conversion to E thus "cutting you up"
THE CYCLE itself: ( NOT EXACT DOSAGES)
Mike did a Pyramid and upped dosages throughout the cycle Starting off relatively light and then upping things towards the end..
Phase 1: GROWTH
Roughly 10 weeks of deca
Starting low with dbol
, then upping each week .
starting low and every other week upping buy 100-150 mgs a week.
Phase 2: CUT
Roughly 5 weeks
Drop the dbol
Keep the deca
at WEEK 9 levels and do not increase.
Add Wintrol and up slowly up till desired LOOK is achieved.
To make this cycle perfect
each week at a mere 200 mgs
Add Exemestane at 10 mgs ED or EOD
Cutting time drop Winnie ADD Masteron.
