GOP Gains Democratic Support for Bill to Allow Keeping Insurance

House Republicans this week are expected to pass with Democratic support legislation that would allow individuals to keep their health insurance plans in spite of new Obamacare rules forcing the cancellation of millions of policies,

Authored by Rep. Fred Upton, Michigan Republican and chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, the bill says that individual healthcare policies that were effective as of January 2013 must be grandfathered in the new system.

"You're not going to be subject to a penalty. You're not going to be forced to find something else," Upton told Newsmax in an exclusive interview.

The Hill reports that passage of the bill by Friday would be "a potential embarrassment for Obama, as several Democrats are likely to support the measure."

Although numerous Republican efforts in the House to block Obamacare have failed to gain traction in the Senate, The Hill also reports that four Democrats have introduced a similar measure, "a sign that some Democrats are increasingly becoming convinced of the need to change the law, but it's also a sign that these Democrats feel vulnerable on this issue -- three of the four Senate Democrats supporting the bill are up for re-election next year."

Upton said the new pressure by the House coupled with significant glitches in the new healthcare system would put pressure on the Senate to "force the president to keep his promise."

This is so stupid. The reason this is going to fail is because they are doing it completely wrong. The way this should have been done is you can either participate in our healthcare system or not. If you decide to not participate in our healthcare system, you don't get treated at the hospital for anything, period. You are saying you don't want to be in this system therefore you shouldn't benefit from it. If you elect to be a part of the system, there need to be standards to which you have to be insured to and this should be explained. This means you may pay more or you may pay less depending on whether your plan meets these standards. If you don't like it, don't buy it and don't participate in it. Cover kids up to 25 and then let them decide if they want in to the system or not. Subsidies should be given for people who can't afford coverage if they want to be in the system. If at any point you want in to the system after the age of 25 and you previously elected to opt out, you need to serve at least 4 years in the military and you can opt in to the system and start purchasing insurance. Make it a choice, just make it more appealing to be in the system.

I can't wait for 2016 when we elect the type of people that understand GOD, and nobody understands god like a republican, and as for Obama care, if those poor Americans would just pray harder[& no more sodomy[at least on Sundays]] & stop complaining about their pathetic lives we could elect people that pay rent to Jesus.
