Finally think I'm respectable enough to post again!

Hey man....What's going on?

I'm trimming down my workouts to twice a week getting ready to have some fun on the lake this summer. The kids are in activities 7 days a week between gymnastics, soccer (both), football, daisies, and swimming (both).

Hope all is well....

hey, things are good now finally. Just had to fight a bout of the flu with the whole family 2 weeks ago that was wonderful. Laid me out for a whole 2 weeks, lost 8 pounds and lost about 3 months of gym progress. got back up to 275 on bench and 295 on squats, plus I deadlifted 315 for 15 reps, then the flu hit. Barely put up 230 for 10 reps on bench last session and hurt my shoulder in the process, squats are in the toilet and today I deadlifted 330 for 7. Shit I tell you

but everything else is good so I shouldn't complain.

You'll be back to normal in a week :thumb: As long as the kiddies and wife are happy and healthy - that's the important thing.

I had a great father's day. Wakeboarding in the morning, coached my son's flag football team to a victory in the early afternoon, hit the sandbar after the game to cool off and finished the day with some steak and a beer :thumb: Hope your day was great too.

no straps, low handles....hardcore style!
ive given up on squats for the time being and am working on the trap bar. I figure it still gives m some decent leg stimulation specially with the low handles. plus, my shoulder has been acting up so holding the bar on my shoulders hurts a lot. if you've noticed, I've also begrudgingly given up benching, because that hurts my shoulder as well. overhead press doesn't hurt at all however, go figure.

The more I read (T-nation) the more I love Trapbar Deads. If I could only do one lower body exercise it would be TB Deads so dropping squat is NBD. I also think OH press is better than bench - as long as your shoulders can handle the load.

my my new goal is to get a bodyweight standing overhead press. I haven't put it in my journal, but fooling around while working at the gym, I've done 185 for 3 standing good reps with no leg drive, so I'm on my way. it's just so difficult to progress on it, it's so much harder than the bench to make improvements, but I will keep at it.

ill try to remember to try those goblet squats, but I'll probably just wind up doing regular deads and leg press or something like that, I will resist the urge to squat, well it won't be too hard because I really just don't want to lol

Right shoulder still messed up, decline bench is the only bar benching movement that I can tolerate, even though it's not pain free. You may ask why not just use dumbbells? Well, I have been, but I haven't liked what I've been getting out of it, I feel I always get more out of benching with a bar.
