SO..

A few weeks after my first cycle of GH (blue tops) 5 iu ed for 15 weeks my neck swelled up on the side
ynyje4y3.jpg

Went to the doc and I have a benign cyst in my thyroid

Now I have to get half or all of my thyroid removed with surgery and will have to be on thyroid medication for the rest of my life or live with half of my thyroid

I know GH can make "other things" in your body grow

I'm not 100% positive the GH was the cause but the timing of it all is questionable

was it an actual cyst or a benign nodule on your thyroid?
I don't know that the GH was the cause of it. have you discussed it with your dr?

I helped save a friends wifes thyroid from being removed due to a goiter..

Gh wouldn't cause that but it could definitely facilitate its growth.

how long did it take for that to happen? from normal neck anatomy to the large bump?

See a second Dr preferably in a different medical group before you let them cut you. My buddy had a lump like that and it went away. He was 46 yrs old a smoker and a drinker so I expected the worst when this golf ball started jutting out of his neck.

The medical system is mostly a corrupt business looking for customers, make 100000 % sure you need to be cut up and on life long medication before you let them do anything .

^^^ this 100%

also for whatever reason it seems like thyroid growths and values are like the most dismissed and misunderstood thing going

I've walked a few people through shrinking very large nodules and goiters with medication thats now slightly harder to find than it used to be but I can point you in the right direction. hell I can direct you to a member on asf whos wife I helped in three weeks between the date he told me about it to her surgery date. She was able to cancel surgery and save her now functioning thyroid.

I'm pretty sure it's a benign nodule

It took a few months to develop

I have also had a hoarse voice because it is pushing my trachea over to the side

I also would like to keep my natural thyroid production if possible

The doc asked "are there any medications you've been taking you want to tell me about? Any anabolic steroids?"

I said "no I take creatine"

I was also taking ghrp-6 after it had developed to help with appetite and I think that could of aggravated it as well

Where you on gear? or just GH

I've gotten crazy cysts from gear. That's why I asked.

I don't know your relationship with your doctor but "I" would go full disclosure on something like that before heading off for a life changing surgery. and definitely get a second opinion from a specialist assuming the doc your talking to is a GP. Not to mention the mountain of research I would want to do on thyroid cysts.

How many cysts have you had and what caused them?

a cyst and a nodule are two different things...a cyst is fluid filled and suggestion bacterial infection
a thyroid nodule is overgrowth of thyroid tissue itself...
where nodules can get weird is they can turn into problems and they want to gravitate to the lungs...

pm me OP..lemme see if i can help you with this some ...I say make the surgery date and discuss a lobectomy with them. I have had a lobectomy and its honestly not a huge deal plus you get to freak people out with neck stitches. I have some thyroid function..I dont NEED medication to actually survive but I need it for optimal quality of life if that makes sense.
I couldn't go say, years without medication but I can go a comfortable three months...a less comfortable 6 months.

general thyroid swelling (goiter) is actually really easy to clean up without surgery...a very large nodule not so much but maybe we can get it smaller before surgery so less tissue needs to be removed.

There is fluid in it as some was drawn out during the biopsy. It is inside my thyroid.

What is OP?

original poster..you

yeah, there's always fluid in there...biopsy sucks there...

have they done ultrasound cat or mri on it?

Well mine came in the form of cystic acne... But I would get huge cyst and you cant pop them like normal acne because it was way to deep in the skin. (Following not recommended)I would take a syringe, stab and squeeze. Its like having a puss filled squirt gun(SOOO GROSS).

At least until I got my accutane and have not had an issue since.

Yes cat and MRI

were you given the option of only removing one lobe or was it a wait and see approach? or what?

go with removing one side...

heres my thoughts on this

if its a hot nodule and you add dessicated thyroid or t3 (I dont recommend t4) you run the risk of a thyroid storm which can kill you dead..
if its a cold nodule...and most are you might be able to shrink it with one of the meds....
if anyone suggest radioactive iodine ask to do a wait and see approach with repeated ultrasounds...
radioactive iodine will nuke all traces of thyroid tissue anywhere in your body

the surgery is actually no big deal and usually just a sore neck for about a week..the remaining lobe should actually pick up a lot of the slack for thyroid function

if you want I can try and take a pic of my scar tomorrow so you can see what it looks like...

Oh and to answer your original question..its possible something was cooking there already and GH stimulated it but to be honest the research on that has been inconclusive at best

I apparently have 3 small nodules on the other side as well

I'd watch and wait with the small ones
and probably refrain from using GH in the future as it may be related, it may not.

I've had one small nodule for forever...its bothers nothing.

idk if I'd risk it...

idk, I like GH too...and use it! but still.

swolen22 asked to see the lobectomy scar..so here it is...the ent surgeon used plastic surgery sutures (tiny ones) and hid it in a neck line my genetics gifted me with since i was a kid. scar is in the lower of the two bands..other little round scar between the two was from an adhesion from the tissue that grafted itself to my skin.

it shows up a little better if im tan...i think the suture scars show up the most..if i remember it was only like 6 sutures. the whole thing is even less noticeable in any kind of normal light conditions

I can't even see it Sheri. Your surgeon did a good job.
