Ok so long, or reletively long cardio breaks down muscles. To be an elite athlete take football as an example, you must have a fair VO2 max, cardiac output etc. This requires constant cardio past your anaerobic capacity and into you aerobic capacity. What i am curious about is how elite athletes, namely footballers or other solid, muscely sportsman can hold onto all their muscle taking into account the fact that they would be doing 5-6 aerobic cardio sessions a week. How does this work?
