European labs detect gly-GHRP-2, gly-GHRP-6 en ala-GH in research chemicals
Strange things are happening in the already shadowy world of injectable research chemical peptides, European laboratories that analyze seized peptides report. Manufacturers replace GHRP-2, GHRP-6, ipamorelin, and Mod-GRF with analogues created by attaching extra amino acids to the parent peptides.Gly-GHRP-2
GHRP-2 is a synthetic protein that was developed in the 1980s by the lab of the American pharmacologist Cyril Bowers. [Endocrinology. 1981;108(1):31-9.] In this century, GHRP-2 entered the market as a research chemical as a cheaper alternative to growth hormone.
GHRP-2 mimics the action of ghrelin, a hormone released into the body by fasting and then increasing growth hormone release. GHRP-2 can interact with ghrelin receptors.
In a vial of lyophilized powder seized by Polish customs, to be injected after being solved in bacteriostatic water, the laboratory of the Polish National Medicines Institute recently found an analog of GHRP-2. [Drug Test Anal. 2019 Jan;11(1):162-7.]
You can see the analog below. It is very similar to GHRP-2, but with an extra glycine group. Because of the extra glycine group, the Poles suspect, the makers probably wanted to mislead laboratories of customs and other investigative authorities.

This German study has been published in Growth Hormone & IGF-1 Research. [Growth Horm IGF Res. 2018 Aug;41:1-6.] In this article, the Germans explain what they found in preparations seized by customs consisting of lyophilized powders in vials. The products were of Asian origin.
In addition to gly-GHRP-2, the Germans also found analogues of GHRP-6 and ipamorelin. GHRP-6 and ipamorelin are both peptides that increase growth hormone release.
The Germans put the peptides in human serum and discovered that enzymes cut off the extra glycine group from the peptides. Thus, gly-GHRP-2, gly-GHRP-6 and gly-ipamorelin can be considered prodrugs.
In their publication, the Germans report yet another new analogue. They discovered alanine-GH in a sample: a version of growth hormone with an extra alanine group.

Pharmaceutical companies that produce peptides for the black and gray market modify even more peptides by adding extra amino acid groups. That suggestion is made by an article that Danish researchers, affiliated with the University of Copenhagen, published in 2019 in Drug Testing & Analysis. [Drug Test Anal. 2019;11:35-4.]
Like their Polish and German colleagues, the Danes found in lyophilized powders gly-ipamorelin, gly-GHRP-2 and gly-GHRP-6 - plus a comparable analogue of Mod GRF 1-29. To put it more precisely, the Danes found gly-Mod GRF 1-19. Like GHRP-2 and GHRP-6, Mod GRF 1-19 is a peptide that increases growth hormone release.
