Lean protein (pick several animals, make beef one of them)
Carbs(Oatmeal, yams, brown rice, all better than pasta if you are going for slow digestion)
Fruits, Veggies (just eat them)
Fats (Olive oil, fish oil, nuts, nut butter)
That is simple enough no?
On a more serious note, I have tried a much simpler diet on a day to day basis. It can save a lot of money. Have several days you rotate maybe where you get substantial variety in there and it can work.
