Contest types

A lot of the amateur competitions with women in it seem to have aerobic/dance routines...What kind of competitions don't have those? Because I'm semi-interested in competing in the future but I know absolutely nothing about what kinds of shows are out there and stuff...Are there a few basic types that someone could explain to me?

What you're refering to is a Fitness Contest (with aerobic/dance). If you want that look, but no fitness routine then you'll be looking at a Figure Contest. That is just posing in a 1 piece and a 2 piece. Then ofcourse there is Bodybuilding which is more muscular bodys posing together and also to music with no aerobic/dance if you don't want to just muscular posing. Is that what you were asking?

What type of look are you shooting for?
