    From Jodi's sticky...
    6. Complex Carbohydrates
Complex carbs with lots of fiber should be consumed in proper proportion for maximum health and vitality. Carbs provide us with strength in the gym by filling our glycogen stores for our muscles future use. Complex carbs with lots of fiber are rich sources of necessary vitamins and minerals as well as enzymes.
As well as Carbohydrates and the Glycemic Index

Most simple carbs raise insulin levels much more than complex carbs. Making you tired and sluggish, while also increasing your chance of becoming a diabetic. The glycemic index is the best rule for what carbs to eat and not to eat. Only exception I can think of is milk, which has a low GI, but a high insulin response.

Simples are usually manmade (poptarts--the sugar the sugar!) while complex are usually natural (oatmeal, sweet potatoes).

Poptarts have complex carbs in them. So does pizza, donuts, and pancakes.

Your looking for low GI. Does because its complex doesnt mean its good for you.

Referring to the sugar within the product

The more manufactured the carbohydrate the greater the insulin response in the body simply because they are broken down so much easier in the body, breaking down into glucose and effecting insulin levels. The more natural source is going to illicit less of a response.

And what matters is GL of the meal not necessarily the GI
