My friend told me about a colostrum supplement called Intact, Anybody's heard of it??? I have heard good things about this product but was wondering if anybody takes any kind of colostrum and if it works for them.
What is colostrum? Does it benefit my baby in any way?
Colostrum is the first milk your breasts produce in the early days of breastfeeding. This special milk is low in fat, and high in carbohydrates, protein, and antibodies to help keep your baby healthy. It is extremely easy to digest, and is therefore the perfect first food for your baby. It is low in volume but high in concentrated nutrition for the newborn. Colostrum has a laxative effect on the baby, helping him pass his early stools, which aids in the excretion of excess bilirubin and helps prevent jaundice.
you don't get what you wish for ~ you get what you work for
Yea, but this colostrum is actually from cows not from humans . I think they call it Bovine Colostrum. It comes from the first milking of a cow and for what I've heard is full of nutrients and immune factors.
Colostrom is supposed to be VERY anabolic, moreso than whey, but, seeing as how it is only produced when the calf is first born, it is very hard to come by. BN sells a 30% colostrom powder, if you really are interested.
