    My plan.

Ok, i cant seem to balance losing weight and weightlifting out together. So im gonna concentrate on losing body fat first. I actually manage to lose five pounds but its too hard with school and all to incorporate weight training. But i have a question that concerns me. If i do this, and abandon weightlifting will i lose a lot of my current Lean body mass? And if so, will weightlifting about once or twice a week allow me to maintain the muscle mass?

weight training burns more calories over a 24 hour period than the equivalant cardio session does. cardio does not have the same positive effect on the endocrine system that resistance training does.

lift weights to build muscle and the your diet take care of fat loss

Well if thats true then, how many calories should i be taking in if...
I run hard cardio about 15-20 minutes plus an hour of soccer practice on mondays
another soccer practice on wednesdays(an hour and half)
and weight train every three days a week?

Right now im doing all of those but training three times a week, maybe right now its more like twice...

you need to post your diet in the other forum. if you are playing soccer several times a week in addition to weight training you are getting enough exercise to lose fat. the problem lies in your diet

I agree with Mr. Lam here. I would think if you took in clean calories somewher between 2700-3000 you should be able to lose fat and retain most of your LBM if you continue to lift.

You really shouldn't give up lifting in my opinion. Your body is much more likely to retain your muscle mass while you cut if you're lifting. It gives your body a "reason" to hold onto the muscle.
The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...
