    Beans, Beans the magical fruit

Ok, I have looked on the internet and I can not find the answer to my question...soooo....I figured someone in here was bound to know. You guys know it all.

Actually I probably have a couple of questions.

Are pinto beans measured dry or cooked?...I mean when I am supposed to eat, lets say, 1/4 cup...do I cook a 1/4 and eat them or measure a 1/4 of cooked beans. I can only find dry info.

Also...here is my question I couldn't find on the internet. How much does a 1/4 (or pick an amount and translate it for me) of dry beans come out to after they are cooked?

    Thanx!!

    1. The info on the package is for 1/4 cup of dry beans AFTER they are cooked. (If you ate them dry you would get very little of anything from them since they would probably pass pretty much undigested.)

    2. 1/4 cup dry measures about 1/2 cup cooked.

Note: A serving for dry beans is 1/4 cup. If you were to look at the canned variety, the serving size is 1/2 cup. The nutrional info should be close between the two (cooking method will vary the info a little (did you add bacon or salt pork to cook the dry ones, add salt or whatnot, etc.) Sodium on the canned for instance will be much higher as most people use salt add salt when they cook pintos.

I normally cook 2 cups dry at time and eat the leftovers for the next 2 days or so. (I think they taste better after being cooked and left in the frig overnight).
