    Bench press

I am a correction officer in NY, and every year we have correction officer Olympics. I am entering this year for the bench press and squat. I weigh 190 lbs. I am very into body building, but have never competed before. Right now I have a bench press max of 360lbs and a squat of 495. Any help would be appreciated on how to prepare for this event that is in June. I have to stay in the weight class of 185lbs to 196. keep in mind last year the event for my weight was won with a press of 315. I did that last week with two reps. So Im in good shape to take it home this year.

I find it odd that your max is 360, but you can only get 315 for 2? My max is 375 or so and I do 315 for 6 or 7.

    I was thinking the same
Soreness is weakness exiting the body.

I read a guide once, to figure out a round about max you should add 5 lbs to your max per rep of a weight. However I always found I can bench 25 lbs more than that once.

    So for you you said 315 + 7 reps = 35lbs = 350 max For him that would only be 315 + 2 reps = 325

He might have done this after working out a bit to he never noted it. But I would have to agree fresh he should be able to get it 4 times for a 360 max.

    Just a thought.
