P-funk, in the podcast you guys talked about something along of the lines of message therapists not knowing what is even considered 'good' in terms of types of therapy. What would one be looking for when finding a therapist? What kind of questions are good to ask?

Stay out of the spas or places that say that the individual does a whole bunch of different modalities like: swedish, pregnancy, myofascial release, trigger point, sports massage, etc....as usually that is just a run down of basic crap they have learned in school, but nothing specific or comprehensive. Especially when they say they do "trigger point massage". I run like hell from those people because the fact that they say something like that tells me that they don't know what the hell they are talking about, as a trigger point is a dysfunction in the soft tissue and not a type of massage, and you need a therapist to decide if the trigger point is there for a reason or not and if it should be deactivated. If you go to NeuroMuscular Therapy Training - NMT Center -, they have a list of people on their site that are "certified" and usually they are very good. If you can't find someone in your area, you can email them and ask if they know of anyone near you to refer you to. Or you can fly out to phoenix. ![]() patrick
