My routine good enough for PH use?
Excuse the odd thread title, but I have done some reading lately that might suggest my training split isn't optimal for my goals. I am reversing course and bulking for at least the next 60-80 days. I will be starting 1-Andro Rx on Monday and have upped my calories considerably this week to get ready. Here is my current routine:
Mon/upper push: Flat Bench, Incline Bench, dumbell press, weighted dips, triceps pushdowns (rope) Wed/lower: Squat, deadlift, good mornings, leg press, farmer's walks Fri/Upper pull: T-bar rows, seated rows, chins, reverse dumbell fly's, barbell curls I do 4 sets of everything (except tri and bi isolation...that's 3) and lift in the 4-8 rep range. I just started this about 4 weeks ago and like it, but I have also read recently that I should work muscles about every 5 days, but with my current split is it too much rest as I rest on Tues, Thurs (one HIIT session) and the weekends? My intensity is pretty awesome lately, but while I'm on the 1-Andro, should I consider a different split? 4 days? 5 days? I would like to keep it to 3 days, but if my results would be greater on something else, I'm willing to give it a try...what do ya'll think?

Anyone? I guess I will stick with it for the next four weeks or so, I was mainly concerned with not working my muscles frequently enough on the 1-Andro. I am looking to get the most out of it bulk wise. I just read up on Lyle McDonald's generic bulk routine...might give that a try too, can't decide.

Well...I got the notion of working muscles every 5 days or so from Lyle's site...not a magazine, thats why I started to consider a change, mainly because I feel my body responds pretty quickly from training when I eat enough.

I follow your logic, but I do feel at this time that I am experienced enough to try out the 1-Andro. I am trying to switch up routines and such to avoid hitting a wall and so far I am really digging it...if anything, trying new routines every 6-7 weeks has kept me focused and driven more than ever, which is a great tool for me.

6' tall. 212 pounds. I eat between 3500-3800 calories a day, depending on whether it's a training day. I eat at least 230g of protein every day. 150g of fat a day...and to be honest, i stopped counting carbs as much after I decided to bulk recently. I don't gorge on junk by any means, but I write down all my food throughout the day and once I meet my protein and fat goals, I eat to get my cals in. I supplement with a multi, whey, vitamin C and some ZMA before bed.

![]() Well, thanks. I don't consider myself overweight, but I guess for around here I am. I am choosing to bulk because I want more muscle and strength. I hate lifting and losing fat/strength, as I do when cutting. Nothing deflates me more than watching the poundage drop off my lifts so here I am. I will bulk for two months, post up some pics and then shed some fat. I talked to Built a little bit about this and she directed me to UD2.0 aswell. After talking to her I decided to bulk before trying to lean out a bit...

Personally, I think youre going in thr wrong direction by bulking. Built has a good point. UD2 would be the way to go-just get down to 10% and then bulk. But you can also bulk using the UD2.
Also, why not try a PH that gears itself towards cutting? |

What is the benefit to cutting now, then bulking as opposed to bulking now, getting bigger and then cutting? I know I would have more fat on me, but also more muscle. Seems like 6 of one and half dozen of another to me...

First who is it that you're referring to as a skinny guy? Second how do you what 4 years of lifting looks like on him? Third, as a former fat fuck, getting down to single digits and explaining to all of my clients to do that first enables them to partition calories a helluva lot more efficiently, as this has been proven in studies related to this suibject. And btw-10% while competing just doesn't happen-so what pros or amateurs are you talking about?

even moreso this is the correct information because it's based on scientific research and most importantly they are not trying to sell it to you. So they give you the correct information. They're trying to help, but people like you are just to ignorant to accept that information and think you know better. Well, you don't.

I don't see why you're even on these forums with an attitude like that. He can go on and use that PH and fuck himself up if he wants seeing as he's just an "ordinary guy" then, his health doesn't matter, he's not a pro

You do realize that using a PH or Andro of any kind while at a high BF level is a recipe for bitch tits, correct? Adipose tissue and aromatase levels are directly related; the more of one, the more of the other. That means that when you have a lot of fat, that test you're shooting or creating via a PH will be turned into estrogen at greater levels in someone who is fat rather than someone who is lean. You should do your homework before complaining about other people's advice. |
