Question about squats
This may sound like a newbie question, which makes sense since I pretty much am but people always say if ya wanna know something just ask (politely of course!
). So my questions is if doing squats on your tippy-toes does it work your calves? It certainly seems like it to me but I'd like some expert feedback. Thanks! |

Well you could do them on a Smith Machine, that way you could use a ton more weight.

that movement sounds like a recipe for disaster ! why can't you just squat the "normal" way and do calves later ?

I would think it would cause undue strain in the foot, I suppose you could make it an endurance event like the iron horse and just not move, but why squat when you can't use squatting weight standing on your toes? Having 500 pounds on my back while on my tip toes sounds ridiculous and asking for injury...

If you're at home and training try this simple but amazingly effective exercise:
Hold a weight in your hand and stand on one foot on the edge of a step....let your heal drop as far as possible and then stand all the way up on your toe and pause...then repeat. You don't need fancy equipment to train calves! |
