To working Personal trainers...

A quick question. And I know this will not be legal or tax advise, but humor me. Or any of you guys writing off supps, drinks, protein, etc., as expenses related to your business? My brain is churning with ideas here. Of course this is for the folks that are getting 1099'd or have their own gym, etc.

??

I don't write that stuff off. To me that would be like trying to write off all my groceries!

I do write off:

- books
- DVDs
- Conferences or Con. ed courses
- Flights and hotels to those conferences or con. ed courses
- Money spent on food at those conferences or con. ed courses
- The rent I pay at my facility

I can also write off some of my computer time (electric bill) and clothing (gym clothes) if I want.

You could if you get set up as a distributor for a product line. Then again you'd probably need a business license, a federal tax ID and most likely have a minimum purchase amounts set on product lines. I have friends that have set up ebay stores with several product lines.

Nah you wouldnt need all that as a sole proprietorship. But It would have to be based on distributing.... to myself? Too much trouble either way. Although i might be distributing some product later on.

Yea Pfunk I see what youre saying but I wasnt gonna go that far. I just dump out alot of money on caffeine drinks.

Yea if I had my own gym I could see this being an easier choice. But then you'd get into inventory and all that and I don't want to deal with that either.
