Modified template based on Westside ideas...
What do you think of replacing the DE Bench/Squat days with one day devoted to clean and jerks and another day devoted to snatches?
I ask because I have goals apart from increasing my bench, squat, and deadlift. I enjoy doing the olympic lifts and I'd like to keep them in my program. That said, I love the weekly max effort days which are part of Westside. I'm trying to find a balance between the two and it seems like replacing the DE days with lifts which demand power development would be a good way to do so. Plus, I never really felt like doing DE benching or squatting helped me that much. |

Use the clean as the dynamic effort for the lower body day and the snatch as the dynamic effort for the upper body day.
just make sure you keep your percentages in check, so that they remain fast, IE "dynamic effort". patrick

Yeah, I've seen the article before and considered trying it. Travis' training seems a bit more focused on his goals in olympic lifting. I'd like to incorporate the Oly lifts on the dynamic days but I think for now I'll stick to doing ME squats and deads instead of something else.
I actually may substitute something like an ME snatch, clean, or rack jerk for the ME upper day. |
