Dumbell squats.

Subsituted BBsquats recently for d'bell squats. Started off holding a pair of 50s, taking the cadence nice and slow without pausing at the top. The pump was torturous . Anyway, since I train at home without a power rack (used to clean the bar onto the shoulders), I can now train to true failure, with no danger of being stuck under a bar.

Anyone had a similar experience?

A while back when I was broke and didn't have a squat rack at home I did one legged squats in a doorway while using my arms ONLY to make sure that I didn't fall over. I found them to be a GREAT exercise.

im actually going to throw together a contraption to do the same thing. i found a dog lead that is rated to over 1000lbs. i plan on running that around the bar to the weights or a dumbbell loaded with the weight. this should have the weight suspended below the bar, in this case if i eat shit, the weight will hit the floor before it comes crashing down on me.

I think weighted lunges using dumbells is a good alternative.

Hack Squats can be done without a power cage and with only a BB...they're relatively safe, also, considering the bar is underneath your body.

Training the mind is equally, if not more, important than training the body. If you can learn to transcend natural limitations, and force your mind into your muscle, your strength will know no bounds.
